Description
General Oslack is a supporting antagonist in the Filipino live-action television series Voltes V: Legacy, serving as a high-ranking military commander of the Boazanian Empire. He arrives on Earth as an aide to Prince Zardoz, the leader of the Boazanian invasion force. Oslack is a duplicitous and ambitious schemer, presenting himself as a loyal servant while secretly pursuing his own goals. Unlike some of his counterparts, he is portrayed as a dangerous opportunist willing to use any means to climb the imperial hierarchy, including manipulation, mind control, and even acts of sexual violence. His arrogance is a defining trait; he frequently boasts about his special Maxingal armor and his favored status with Emperor Zambojil, which he uses to belittle and antagonize his rivals, particularly the officers Draco and Zandra.

Oslack is motivated almost entirely by a narcissistic ambition to usurp Prince Zardoz and claim his position for himself. He is sent by Emperor Zambojil ostensibly to aid Zardoz in defeating the Earth defenders and their super robot, Voltes V, but his true secret orders are to monitor the prince and eliminate him if the opportunity arises. Oslack believes that by destroying Voltes V and disposing of Zardoz, he will earn Zambojil's favor and secure a higher station for himself. This hidden agenda drives his actions throughout the story, leading him to feign loyalty while constantly scheming against the prince and his other aides.

In the story, General Oslack acts as a significant threat to both the Earth defense force and the Boazanian leadership. Upon his introduction, he demonstrates his power by dueling and defeating Draco, the prince's loyal general. He then introduces Beast Fighters armored with an extremely durable material called Maxingal, which initially proves impervious to Voltes V's standard weaponry, forcing the Earth team to develop new strategies and upgrades. His role is defined by his treacherous machinations, which include attempting to sexually assault Zandra with a mind-control device, using the same device to possess Jamie Robinson and force her to attack her own father, Commander Oscar Robinson, and ultimately shooting the commander when the plan fails. Oslack's actions directly lead to the death of Commander Robinson, a pivotal and tragic event in the series.

Oslack's key relationships are defined by manipulation, rivalry, and feigned loyalty. He maintains a public facade of respect toward Prince Zardoz while secretly plotting his demise. He is openly contemptuous of Draco and Zandra, frequently insulting them and leveraging his perceived position to undermine their authority, which creates a deep and mutual enmity. His relationship with Zandra is particularly sinister, as he attempts to use his mind-control ring to rape her, an act that shows his complete lack of moral restraint and his willingness to harm even his supposed allies. He also has a direct adversarial relationship with the Voltes V team, specifically targeting Commander Robinson and his daughter, Jamie, as part of his cruel schemes.

The character of General Oslack shows a clear development from a boastful and overconfident newcomer to a desperate and cornered traitor. Initially, he is confident in his Maxingal armor and his backing from the Emperor, believing these assets will allow him to easily defeat Voltes V and betray Zardoz. However, after his initial plans fail and his treachery is exposed, he is forced to beg for Zardoz's forgiveness. Although he is allowed to live, he continues his scheming, growing more reckless and depraved as evidenced by his assault on Zandra and the mind-control attack on the Robinsons. His arc culminates in an open betrayal, as he abandons Prince Zardoz and aligns with General Gururu, the inspector general, in a final, desperate bid to destroy Voltes V and regain the Emperor's favor. This alliance ultimately leads to his death when the starship he and Gururu command is destroyed by Voltes V during the battle to liberate the planet Boazan.

General Oslack possesses several notable abilities that make him a formidable and cunning adversary. He is a skilled combatant, capable of defeating Draco in a one-on-one duel. His most significant asset is his expertise with Maxingal, a super-strong metal alloy. He wears a suit of armor made from this material and equips many of his Beast Fighters with it, making them highly resistant to attack. He is also an inventor, creating a powerful mind-control device in the form of a ring. This ring allows him to dominate the will of anyone who wears it, which he uses for both strategic sabotage and his own personal, predatory desires. As a commander, he leads from his flagship, the Gaildoza, and employs unconventional tactics, such as jamming communications and launching meteor showers armed with Maxingal, to gain an advantage over his enemies.
