Description
Alman Kiddo is a central figure in the 2023 live-action film adaptation of Knights of the Zodiac, serving as a wealthy mentor and the founder of the modern Knights order. In this origin story, he is portrayed as a determined and enigmatic man who discovers the reincarnation of the goddess Athena, a young girl named Sienna, and takes her in as his own daughter. His primary motivation is to protect Sienna and help her control her immense and unstable godly powers, which he believes can save the world rather than destroy it. Unlike his ex-wife, Guraad, who views Sienna as a threat to be eliminated, Alman Kiddo firmly believes in the goddess's benevolent potential as the incarnation of Athena, the goddess of wisdom.
To fulfill his mission, Alman Kiddo establishes the Knights of the Zodiac, a specialized order dedicated to protecting the reincarnated goddess. He dedicates his vast resources to locating and recruiting young individuals who possess a mystical inner energy known as Cosmo, training them to become warriors. His most significant recruitment is the protagonist, Seiya, a street orphan and skilled fighter whom Kiddo believes is destined to become the Knight of Pegasus. Throughout the story, Kiddo acts as a paternal guide for Seiya, introducing him to a preternatural battle and pushing him to embrace his destiny.
His role is fundamentally that of a mentor and a patriarch caught in a familial and ideological war. His key relationships are defined by conflict and protection. He is the adoptive father of Sienna, whose fate he seeks to secure. He is the estranged husband of Guraad, who leads a rival organization using technology to create Dark Knights to kill Sienna. And he is the recruiter and benefactor to Seiya, whom he tasks with being the goddess's ultimate protector. While his backstory involves receiving the infant Sienna from a dying Gold Knight and raising her, his primary development in the narrative is his unwavering commitment to his belief in the goddess's good nature, a stance that puts him in direct opposition to his former partner. Alman Kiddo is not a frontline fighter; his notable abilities lie in his wealth, his strategic vision to found the Knights order, and his profound conviction that shapes the film's central conflict.
