Description
Elena Wallace is a human character who serves as a central figure in the 2023 film Transformers: Rise of the Beasts. At the time of the film's events in 1994, she is a young woman living in Brooklyn, New York, where she was raised by her father, a taxi driver who inspired her passion for history and science. Despite her extensive knowledge and sharp eye for detail, she works as an overlooked intern at the Ellis Island Museum, where her boss, Jillian, regularly takes credit for her work and assigns her menial tasks like fetching coffee and dry cleaning.

Elena is characterized by her intelligence, enthusiasm for history, and a quiet frustration with being undervalued in her professional life. She possesses a keen analytical mind, able to spot a forgery or misidentified artifact from a distance, and her passion for her field is genuine, unlike her boss's more superficial interest. She also has a habit of singing to herself as a way to remain calm when under stress or in dangerous situations. Her primary motivation is a desire to do something meaningful and noteworthy with her life, a goal rooted in a wish to make her father proud of her accomplishments.

Her role in the story begins when her expertise leads her to discover the Transwarp Key, a powerful artifact hidden inside a falcon statue that she correctly deduces is not of ancient Egyptian origin but likely from the Inca or Aztec civilizations. Upon touching the key, she inadvertently activates a beacon that draws both the Autobots and the villainous Terrorcons to her location. After being rescued from the Terrorcon attack by the Autobots, Elena's knowledge proves essential to the mission. She is the one who identifies that the symbols on the key fragment match others linked to a temple in Peru, guiding the team to the location of the second half of the artifact.

Throughout the adventure, Elena forms several key relationships. She is initially suspicious of Noah Diaz, another human swept into the conflict, but they quickly become allies and close friends, working together to survive and complete their mission. Unlike Noah, who is initially determined to destroy the key to save Earth, Elena believes there might be another way to save both their planet and the Autobots' homeworld of Cybertron, demonstrating her empathy and problem-solving skills. She also forms a meaningful, if brief, bond with Airazor, a Maximal warrior who takes the form of a peregrine falcon. Elena is the first to recognize the Maximal symbol on Airazor and later shares a moment of connection with her before the Maximal is tragically corrupted by the enemy.

Over the course of the story, Elena undergoes significant development. She begins as an unrecognized intern whose discoveries are dismissed and claimed by others. By the end, she has used her intellect to solve ancient puzzles, decipher alien codes, and help save the planet from the planet-eating entity Unicron. Her courage and contributions lead to her receiving public recognition for her discovery of a hidden temple and catacombs in Peru, including being featured on the news program 60 Minutes.

Elena's notable abilities are entirely intellectual rather than physical. Her primary strength is her expertise in archaeology and history, which she applies to decode ancient symbols and find hidden locations. Her most critical contribution is her meticulous nature: she records the strange glyphs she sees on the Transwarp Key and on the walls of the Peruvian temple in a notebook. This record proves vital in the final battle, as the collected symbols form the complete access code needed to deactivate the Transwarp Key's portal, even after the terminal is destroyed.
