ONA
Description
Magisa is a character who appears in the Battle Spirits: Mirage anime, though her most extensive development occurs in the preceding series, Battle Spirits: Shounen Gekiha Dan, where she is first introduced as the Otherworld Witch. In Mirage, she is encountered again, having ascended to a divine status after the events of the previous story. Her physical appearance is distinctive, with long, wavy pink hair that she often secures using her wand as a hair accessory, and golden eyes. Her typical attire includes a blue and white tank top with matching blue shorts, but she is also known to wear long black boots that are actually living snake heads capable of attacking independently. When she is utilizing her magical abilities, she dons a more traditional witch's outfit consisting of blue robes with large red buttons and a pointed hat. After her true power is fully restored, she adopts an even more elaborate ensemble in blue, gold, and white.

Magisa is introduced as a powerful witch who once served as a guardian of the Otherworld and was a highly skilled card battler. However, her power was severely depleted after she lost a battle to the Otherworld King, who stole her deck, leaving her magic in a weakened state. Despite being an ancient being with an age of over four thousand years, she has a youthful appearance and a personality that is far from serene. She is known to be easily provoked and has a tendency toward violence, often expressing her frustrations with considerable force. One of her most notable personal grievances is her continued single status, a fact she laments frequently despite her advanced age, and she is also implied to have a drinking problem. These traits give her a rough exterior, but beneath this lies a fierce dedication to protecting the world of Grand Rolo and those she considers her charges. She is consistently willing to put herself in harm's way to safeguard the core soldiers, a group of heroes she helps to guide.

Magisa serves as a crucial mentor and ally to the protagonist, Dan Bashin, and his companions. When Dan first arrives in the Otherworld, it is Magisa who teaches him the nuances of battling in that realm, allowing him to face his first adversary, Kazan. She possesses the unique magical ability to identify the bearers of the core's light, which she uses to locate other key members of their group, including Clackey Ray and Mai Viole. Her role is not merely that of a teacher; she is an active participant in their quest, using her wits and remaining magic to scout ahead and confront powerful enemies like Yuuki, even when her power is insufficient to defeat them outright. Her relationships are built on this foundation of loyalty and sacrifice. She shares a particularly significant history with Julian Fines, a core soldier from a previous generation with whom she may have had a romantic relationship. This history adds a layer of poignancy to her story, as she witnesses how Julian changed after his own defeat. Despite this, she remains a pillar of strength for the new generation.

Over the course of the narrative, Magisa undergoes a notable transformation. Initially, she is a capable but diminished figure, reliant on the new core soldiers as her last hope for defeating the Otherworld King. Her power is not regained through simple passage of time but through the direct actions of her allies. After Dan succeeds in defeating Dr. Franker, who had been using Magisa's stolen deck as a power source, the deck is returned to her. This event restores her to her true, original state, granting her immense magical power and a new, more regal appearance. Her personality shifts with this restoration, moving away from the slightly unreliable and frustrated "old maid" persona to become a woman of greater composure, confidence, and adult charm. In a demonstration of her recovered might, she engages in a battle against Leon, an aide of the Otherworld King. Her deck strategy is highly unusual, containing only a single Spirit card, The MagicalEmpress Ambrocius, alongside numerous Magic and Nexus cards. This design makes her difficult to defeat if she draws her key Spirit, as its effects allow her to leverage her numerous magic cards for overwhelming combos. She successfully used this strategy to defeat Leon in a single turn.

Magisa's journey culminates in the final battle. After Dan defeats the Otherworld King, the immense power of the Mother Core overwhelms his body. To save him, Magisa selflessly absorbs the power herself, becoming the new bearer of the Mother Core's light. This final act demonstrates her ultimate dedication. As the new guardian, she uses this power to return all the displaced individuals to their proper worlds and times, permanently sealing the gate to Grand Rolo. By the time of Battle Spirits: Mirage, she has been further transformed by this unification with the Mother Core. She is now worshipped as a god by the inhabitants of Grand Rolo, having reached a state of being far beyond her original witch form. In this sequel series, she emerges from her divine role to battle a new threat, Gallet Revo, demonstrating that even in her elevated state, she remains a formidable force, continuing to wield her signature Spirit, The MagicalEmpress Ambrocius.
