ONA
Description
Bon is one of the male cats living in the household at the center of Kuruneko. His background is that of a rescued stray, as the series is based on the creator’s experiences taking in abandoned and stray cats. In the early dynamics of the household, before the arrival of the youngest cat Kobo, Bon was the only male cat, which positioned him as the de facto senior male figure in the group.

Personality-wise, Bon is characterized by a striking and humorous contrast between his appearance and his inner nature. He has a face that looks like a yakuza, or a tough gangster, which gives him a gruff and intimidating exterior. Despite this rough look, his true personality is much softer and more sensitive. He is described as having the easily frightened and delicate heart of a young lady, making him a secret sentimentalist. This dichotomy is a central part of his character; he may look like a thug, but he acts with the nervous disposition of a much more timid creature. He is also known to be a mischief-maker, adding a layer of playful trouble to his sensitive core.

Bon’s role in the story is as one of the core members of the cat family. His relationships with the other cats and his owner are key to many episodes. When the owner had to send several kittens to new homes, Bon remained behind, solidifying his position in the household. In the specials, his motivations and deep bond with his owner are clearly shown. When the owner was experiencing a creative crisis and feeling sad, Bon’s instinct was to comfort her. He brought her a moth, and when she released it, he brought her a caterpillar, showing a persistent and thoughtful, if misguided, desire to cheer her up. He is also fiercely protective of his status as the head of the house, as evidenced by his habit of spraying everything to mark his territory after the other kittens left.

His relationship with Kobo, the "eternal kitten," is also significant. On one occasion, Bon brought a white kitten to the owner. This kitten was actually Kobo. As the owner began to pet and fuss over the new arrival, Bon clearly became jealous and requested that he be petted too, revealing his need for affection and a slightly possessive streak. In the special Nyaalock Holmes no Bouken, where the cats play dress-up as famous characters, Bon takes on the role of Doctor Watbon. In this parody, his character remains consistent with his usual personality, as he is portrayed as being cowardly, a trait that aligns well with his sensitive and easily frightened nature.

Notable abilities include his hunting skills, as he successfully caught a moth and a caterpillar to present as gifts. His most infamous ability, however, might be his territorial marking. Upon becoming the senior cat, he was quick to re-establish his domain by spraying everything in the house, a behavior that highlights his instinctual drive to maintain his place in the hierarchy.
