Description
Phious is a knight of the White Kingdom, also called the Kingdom of Light, in the anime Shironeko Project: Zero Chronicle, where he holds the rank of captain of the kingdom's knights. He is an adult man with short gray hair and purple eyes, and he carries himself as a seasoned soldier devoted to his homeland.
He is a proud and stubborn person; once he has made up his mind about something, even those closest to him find it difficult to change it. He takes great pride in the Kingdom of Light and holds its queen, Iris, in very high regard, serving her with deep loyalty. He is also very close to Sheama, Iris's sister, and cares sincerely about the wellbeing of the White Kingdom and its people. At first he deeply distrusts and despises the Kingdom of Darkness, viewing its people only as enemies. Over the course of the story, however, his perception begins to change as he interacts with Adel and the Prince of Darkness, and he gradually comes to see those from the kingdom of darkness in a more complex and less hostile light.
His motivations are rooted in duty and loyalty. He seeks to protect the White Kingdom from the threats arrayed against it, to support and defend Queen Iris, and to uphold the honor of his kingdom and his position. This strong sense of duty also makes him resistant to change, and he can react strongly when the actions of others, even those he respects, appear to contradict his beliefs.
As captain of the knights, Phious plays a significant role on the side of the White Kingdom in the conflict between light and darkness. He takes part in battles, leads his fellow knights, and serves as one of the queen's foremost defenders during the crisis that drives the story. In the final events of the narrative, when Iris resolves to destroy the Progenitor Stone in order to stop the King of Darkness, he objects strongly to her decision, and his fate in the final conflict is left ambiguous. His personal development is defined by the gradual widening of his perspective: a proud warrior who initially sees the world in simple terms of light versus darkness becomes someone willing to reconsider old hatreds through his encounters with Adel and the Prince of Darkness.
In terms of ability, Phious is a capable and experienced knight who commands his kingdom's forces in battle and fights personally to protect the queen and his homeland. His strength lies mainly in his combat skill, his leadership, and the authority that comes with his rank as captain of the knights.
