Description
In the world of Infinite Dendrogram, the character known as Flamingo or Mr. Franklin is a Master from the Dryfe Imperium and serves as the owner and clan leader of the Triangle of Wisdom, the top-ranked clan in Dryfe. While his in-game avatar is a tall, slender man with long unkempt blonde hair, dark circles under his eyes, and a white lab coat worn over black clothing, his true identity is Francesca Gautier, a 21-year-old French woman. In real life, Francesca is an art university student in Japan who lives in the same apartment building as the protagonist, Ray Starling, though he is unaware of her connection to his in-game adversary.

Mr. Franklin embodies the archetype of a mad scientist driven by an obsessive passion for research, creation, and experimentation. His personality is defined by a deep-seated hatred of losing, being hindered, or being underestimated. When faced with such situations, he displays a ruthless and vindictive nature, willing to go to extreme lengths to achieve his objectives, such as relentlessly hunting down an enemy until they quit the game entirely. This cruelty, however, is not without nuance. He exhibits a clear double standard, treating his own clan members and allies, such as Hugo Lesseps, with genuine consideration and even kindness, while showing no mercy to external threats or obstacles.

His motivations are rooted in his real-world history. As the firstborn child of the Gautier family, Francesca was a creative child whose passion for crafting was encouraged by her grandfather. A traumatic event, in which her father destroyed the figurines she had made to prevent them from scaring off her fiancé, caused her to leave her family and abandon her marriage. This event fostered a deep resentment of being controlled and a powerful drive to live freely, creating what she wants without consequences. For her, the world of Infinite Dendrogram serves as an outlet for the twisted emotions and frustrations she cannot express in reality, a place where she can assert absolute freedom and crush anyone who would stand in her way.

Within the story, Mr. Franklin acts as a major antagonist, most notably during the Franklin Game arc, where he traps high-level Masters in a colosseum and threatens to destroy the city of Gideon with monsters to psychologically break both the Masters and the Tians (the world's NPCs). His role is not merely that of a destroyer, but also a creator and a catalyst. As the head of the Triangle of Wisdom, he facilitates the development of advanced magical technology and weaponry, significantly impacting the political and military landscape of the world. He sees his destructive actions not as malicious but as constructive, a necessary part of his creative process and a means to remove any limitations on his freedom.

His most significant relationship is with Hugo Lesseps, who is his younger sister in real life, a fact unknown to most. Despite using male avatars, the two share a deep bond. Franklin acts as a protector and even a manipulator, pushing Hugo away at times for his own good, as seen when he forces Hugo to leave the clan to find his own path. His primary antagonist relationship is with Ray Starling, whose relentless heroism and refusal to back down act as an irritating stain on Franklin's canvas of free creation. Despite his animosity, Franklin has a strangely honest rapport with Ray, directly answering his questions about his worldview.

In terms of development, while Franklin rarely shows traditional character growth or redemption, his layers are revealed over time. Initially presented as a purely vile terrorist, his actions are later contextualized by his tragic past and his in-game persona's connection to a gentle, disabled art student in the real world. Following his defeat, he shows a capacity for pragmatic leadership, reorganizing his plans and letting go of his sister to pursue her own destiny, which in turn allows him to embrace his own role as a villain more completely.

Mr. Franklin is a formidable opponent not because of personal combat prowess, but through his strategic genius and specialized abilities. His primary strength lies in his Superior Job, Giga Professor, and his unique Embryo, Pandemonium. Pandemonium is a massive, kilometer-high, box-shaped factory with dragon heads and spider legs, classified as a Form VII Plant Fortress, the only one of its kind. It possesses the ability to mass-produce monsters, allowing Franklin to create up to a thousand sub-dragon-class creatures per day using the skill Monster Mass Production. It can store these monsters indefinitely before deployment and uses its ultimate skill, Playing God, Pandemonium, to create custom monsters with unique abilities tailored to counter specific enemies.

To compensate for his own low stats, which are comparable to a lower-tier job, Franklin employs several strategic skills. He uses Castling to swap positions with one of his monsters for quick long-distance travel and emergency evasion. His most defensive skill is Life Link, which allows him to share his HP with his creations. By manufacturing monsters with maximized HP and absolute loyalty, he effectively gives himself an enormous external health pool, making him incredibly difficult to kill. Finally, his Analysing Eye of Wisdom allows him to scrutinize any living creature, circumventing concealment skills to see their level, status, skills, and potential drops, making him a master of preparation and metagaming. Despite being called the Weakest Superior in terms of raw stats, his ability to analyze, prepare, and deploy overwhelming customized force makes him one of the most dangerous antagonists in the series.
