Description
Melascula is a recurring antagonist who first appears in the original Seven Deadly Sins series and continues her role as a servant of dark forces in the sequel, Four Knights of the Apocalypse. Originally an ordinary white snake, she transformed into a powerful demon after bathing in the miasma of the Demon Realm for three centuries. She rose through the ranks to become an elite soldier of the Demon Clan, earning a position among the Ten Commandments as Melascula of the Faith, serving directly under the Demon King. Her original form is a giant, hooded serpent, though she prefers to take the shape of a young human woman with straight pink hair, a sleeveless leotard, and a pink bowtie, often surrounded by an aura of darkness.

In terms of personality, Melascula is defined by her cruelty, sadism, and self-serving nature. She holds a deep-seated arrogance typical of high-ranking demons, viewing all other races as inferior. Unlike some antagonists in the franchise who possess complex or sympathetic qualities, Melascula exhibits few, if any, redeeming traits. She is known to be impatient, becoming enraged when events do not unfold according to her wishes, which can manifest as childish tantrums. A particular enjoyment she derives is from toying with her victims before destroying them, often employing psychological torture or rigged games to prolong their suffering. Her sadistic streak is most prominently displayed through her signature magical ability: necromancy. Melascula can resurrect the dead, corrupting their souls and twisting their most positive emotions into obsessive, deranged hatred. One notable example of this is her reanimation of Elaine, the lover of the immortal Ban, twisting her love into a jealous, murderous rage aimed at those close to Ban.

Throughout the narrative of the original series, Melascula's primary motivations are the advancement of the Demon Clan's goals and the destruction of their enemies, particularly the Seven Deadly Sins. She devours souls, attempts genocide against other races, and uses her Commandment, which causes the eyes of anyone who doubts their opponent to burst, as a passive weapon. She plays a significant role in attempting to sabotage the portal to the Celestial Realm and unleashes lesser demons to massacre the population of Britannia. Her personal vendettas are often spiteful, such as when she attempts to slowly torture and kill the sin Meliodas as revenge against his comrades. She also captures Meliodas, using his own darkness to empower an undead army, which inadvertently leads to his emotions being destroyed and sets the stage for his transformation into the Demon King's vessel.

In Four Knights of the Apocalypse, Melascula is resurrected by the power of Chaos and becomes a servant of Arthur Pendragon, the King of Camelot, taking on the designation Chaos Melascula. Her role in this sequel series is to act as a direct threat to the new generation of heroes, the Four Knights of the Apocalypse. Upon her revival, she immediately sets about reviving her former comrade, the warrior Galand, turning him into Chaos Galand. Together, they infiltrate the kingdom of Liones to assassinate the king and eliminate the prophesied knights. Melascula displays her cunning in this battle, using her demonic magic to trap one of the knights, Tristan, in a Cage of Darkness, a spell noted to have previously held even the immensely powerful Meliodas.

A key development in this series is her fusion with Galand to become a singular, more powerful being known as Melagaland or Mela-Galland. In this combined form, Melascula acts as the strategic brain while Galand provides the raw, destructive brawn. This fused entity proves to be a formidable adversary, capable of repelling magical attacks from the Four Knights and forcing the Royal Holy Knights of Liones to intervene in a desperate battle to protect their kingdom. Her notable abilities in this form include her signature darkness manipulation, necromancy, and the tactical use of fusion to combine her magical prowess with Galand's immense physical strength. Her primary motivation remains unwavering loyalty to her master and a sadistic enjoyment in testing and tormenting the new heroes.
