Description
Celeste is a supporting character in the anime My Unique Skill Makes Me OP even at Level 1. She is a young woman who initially appears as a solitary figure working in the Selenium dungeon. Her appearance is characterized by her long black hair, which reaches down to her thighs, and she typically wears a red dress with black accents and a long opening on the left side.
Prior to joining the main party, Celeste was tasked with a specific and lonely job: burning the garbage left behind by other adventurers exploring the dungeon. This work was not only isolating but also physically demanding. Her primary offensive ability is a powerful fire magic skill called Inferno, which is classified at level 3. While immensely strong, capable of unleashing a gigantic fireball that incinerates almost anything, this spell had a significant drawback. Using it just two or three times in a row would exhaust her, consuming a large amount of her magical energy. This limitation made her assigned job of continuously burning trash a grueling and unsustainable task.
Celeste's role in the story becomes more prominent when she meets the protagonist, Ryota Sato, and his companion, Emily Brown. They encounter her while she is struggling with her task and offer their help. Through this interaction, Celeste begins to develop feelings for Ryota. The turning point for her character occurs during a crisis in the Selenium dungeon, when a powerful boss monster known as the Dungeonmaster, which is a unicorn-type creature, appears. This monster was the root cause of the endless trash problem. Against this foe, Celeste finds her purpose. Although she initially feels like a burden, her Inferno magic proves to be crucial in breaking through the boss's powerful magical barrier, enabling Ryota and Emily to land the decisive blows.
After the victory, Ryota and Emily give Celeste the monster's horns, an item called the Bi-Horns. These twin, palm-sized horns possess a unique property: they do not amplify her magic but instead reduce its power from level 3 to level 1. While this may sound like a downgrade, for Celeste, it is a transformative boon. The Bi-Horns allow her to cast smaller, controlled fireballs that consume far less of her magical energy, effectively removing the exhaustion that once plagued her. This enables her to fight freely and sustainably without the fear of collapsing after a few spells. Following the battle and this upgrade, Celeste decides to move to the city of Cyclo to stay close to Ryota. When he forms a new party, he invites her to join, and she enthusiastically agrees, becoming a permanent member of Ryota's Party.
Overall, Celeste's character development is closely tied to overcoming the limitations that defined her early life. She transitions from a lonely, overworked mage burning trash on the outskirts to a valued and capable member of an adventuring team. Her relationship with Ryota is a key driver of this change; his supportive and kind nature gives her the courage to push past her insecurities. Her newfound ability to use her fire magic without restriction makes her a formidable offensive asset to the group as they take on greater challenges together.
