Description
Agete is a young apprentice witch studying under the skilled professor Qifrey. She comes from the prestigious Arkrome family, a lineage of witches who have served as librarians at the Tower of Tomes for generations, and she hopes to one day prove herself worthy of joining them there. However, she is considered something of a black sheep within her own family. This reputation stems from an incident during her apprentice debut, when she attempted to pass off another person's magical work as her own. As a result of this transgression and perhaps because her family perceived her own work as mediocre, she was sent away from her home to continue her studies in Qifrey's atelier.

Agete is characterized by a serious, ambitious, and often withdrawn nature. She is intensely self-conscious and suffers from significant self-esteem issues, possessing a tendency to focus on her shortcomings and how much more she needs to learn rather than taking pride in what she has already accomplished. This dissatisfaction with her own progress makes her a very diligent student, and she is known to wake early or pull all-nighters to study and prepare for examinations. Her desire to excel is so strong that she can be abrasive toward those she perceives as inferior or naive about the complexities of magic. This is most evident in her initial treatment of Coco, a newcomer to the magical world. Agete viewed Coco's outsider status and sudden acceptance into the atelier as an insult to the elegant and complex art of magic, leading her to be demeaning and to force Coco to take a dangerous first test to prove her worth.

Despite her prickly exterior, Agete's role in the story evolves significantly. She begins as a kind of rival and antagonist to the protagonist, Coco, but their relationship gradually improves as they are forced to work together during dangerous situations, such as escaping from a dragon set upon them by a group of rogue mages. Her personal development is a key part of the narrative. She struggles with the fear of failing and disappointing her teacher, Qifrey, as well as a deep-seated fear of not being good enough despite her years of study. A pivotal lesson for her comes when she is chastised by a fellow mage for focusing on proving her superiority rather than on the true purpose of magic, which is to help others. This lesson begins to humble her and reshape her motivations. In later storylines, such as during the Silver Night Parade, Agete has progressed to the point where she sets aside her ego and rivalry to offer Coco a helping hand in a moment of crisis, demonstrating her growth into a more compassionate and reliable friend.

Her key relationships are central to her character arc. Her relationship with her professor, Qifrey, is built on respect, but she is often frustrated by what she perceives as the slow pace of his teachings. Her most dynamic relationship is with Coco, which transforms from one of disdain and jealousy to mutual respect and camaraderie. In terms of notable abilities, Agete is a highly skilled and technically proficient magic user, a result of her intense dedication to study. She has demonstrated the ability to perform complex spells with precision, such as using Seals of Recreation and Repetition to create a path across a hazardous gap in a cave, showcasing her methodical and prepared approach to magical challenges. Her ambition is to master magic to its highest form, both to earn the respect of her prestigious family and to validate her own sense of self-worth.
