TV-Series
Description
Agott is a young apprentice witch at Qifrey's atelier, distinguished by her serious demeanor and considerable talent. She hails from the prestigious Arklaum family, who have served as the librarians of the Tower of Tomes for generations, and her personal ambition is to develop her skills sufficiently to one day join their ranks and prove herself worthy of her lineage. Physically, Agott has dark curly hair, which is sometimes depicted with a purple tint, and dark purple eyes, and she often carries a brooding expression.
Her personality is marked by a complex mixture of pride, ambition, and deep-seated insecurity. As the first apprentice taken in by Qifrey, she is extremely serious about her magical studies, often waking early or pulling all-nighters to prepare for examinations. She is highly self-critical and has a tendency to fixate on what she cannot yet do rather than appreciating her own considerable abilities, leading to frequent dissatisfaction with her progress. This inner pressure makes her resent being perceived as average or inferior. Initially, this manifests as hostility towards those she views as less capable, particularly Coco, whose unconventional entry into the world of magic and naive enthusiasm Agott sees as an affront to the discipline she values so highly. She challenged Coco to the Consent of the Crown, a dangerous first test, believing an outsider had to prove her worth to belong in the atelier.
Despite this harsh exterior, Agott's motivations are rooted in her personal history. She has been referred to as the "black sheep" of her family after a past incident where she attempted to pass off another person's magic as her own during her apprentice debut. This mistake, combined with her family's perception of her work as underwhelming, led to her being sent away to study under Qifrey instead of remaining with her own kin. This background explains her intense drive to succeed legitimately and her fear of being seen as unworthy, as well as her initial contempt for shortcuts or unearned progress.
Throughout the story, her role evolves from a rival figure for Coco to a collaborative partner. While she initially looks down on Coco, key events force them to work together. When they are trapped in a labyrinth with a dragon, Coco proposed a plan that seemed doomed to fail, but her willingness to try and her determination to practice a spell "over and over" sparked an idea in Agott, who then used a repetition seal to complete the magic and save them. This moment allowed Agott to gain respect for Coco's creativity and perseverance, beginning a shift in their relationship. This development continues as they face challenges like the Sincerity of the Shield test and the Silver Night Parade, where Agott, now seeing Coco as a rival in a more positive sense, reaches out to help her when she falls into a creative slump.
In terms of magical abilities, Agott is noted for her strong fundamentals and dedicated study habits, though specific unique spells are not as prominently featured as some of the other apprentices. Her true skill lies in her deep theoretical knowledge and her ability to devise solutions under pressure, as demonstrated when she added the crucial repetition seal to the dragon trap spell. Her key relationships are central to her character. Her bond with her teacher, Qifrey, is one of respect tempered by frustration, as she sometimes feels her progress is too slow. Her most significant relationship is with Coco, which transforms from antagonistic disdain to a grudging respect and a genuine, if still competitive, friendship that helps Agott overcome her rigid views on magic and worth.
