Description
Nebulim is a superior dragon known as the Barrier Dragon. He holds the seventh seat of the Winged Brethren, a position that later shifts to the fourth seat in an altered timeline. He serves as the loyal bodyguard and devoted follower of Ultimatia, the Winged King. He was turned into a dragon directly by Ultimatia and became a full dragon instantaneously without any transitional phase, an event that underscores his extraordinary innate talent. He is frequently compared favorably to Woltekamui in terms of raw ability.
In his initial appearance, Nebulim looks like a young boy with short black hair that covers his eyes, two small horns, and a long tail ending in spikes. He wears a jacket with belts around the collar and sleeves, white shorts, and sneakers. After fully maturing, his body grows considerably larger, becoming comparable to Woltekamui in size. His horns extend further, a third horn appears, his eyes develop a ripple-like pattern over the surface, and his hands and feet become more distinctly dragon-like.
Nebulim's personality is initially marked by extreme timidity and social anxiety. He rarely speaks unless necessary and is largely withdrawn in the presence of others except when he is around Ultimatia. When in her company, he becomes more vocal, offering his opinions on matters that trouble her and actively trying to prevent her from taking actions he believes could harm her or her allies. He is fiercely overprotective, placing her safety above his own life, an attitude rooted in the deep value he places on the kindness she has shown him. After witnessing the dragon hunter Ragna harm Ultimatia in battle, Nebulim undergoes a profound change. He develops a singular, obsessive hatred for Ragna, counting every second that the hunter remains alive and vowing to kill him at any cost. This anger is so consuming that upon evolving, he can sense Crimson's dimensional magic across different dimensions. Despite his intense devotion, he carries a persistent feeling of loneliness, as he believes he has never achieved the closeness with Ultimatia that he desires. He is also analytical, capable of perceiving tactical details in the midst of battle that even Ultimatia fails to notice.
Motivationally, Nebulim is driven by his unwavering loyalty to Ultimatia and his need to protect her. Following Ragna's attack, vengeance against Ragna becomes a central driving force, pushing him to evolve and grow stronger. His role in the story is that of a high-ranking member of the Winged Brethren and Ultimatia's personal bodyguard. He participates in the Winged Bloodline's campaigns, including the construction of barriers around the capital and the defense of Ultimatia. He is the last surviving member of the Winged Brethren and eventually becomes a disciple of Gilzea, the Claw King.
Nebulim's key relationships are defined by his devotion to Ultimatia, to whom he is completely loyal and protective. He has a submissive dynamic with Borgius, an elder dragon whose criticism can reduce him to tears. His relationship with Ragna is one of obsessive enmity, serving as the primary catalyst for his character growth. He also interacts with Woltekamui, but is intimidated by him.
In terms of development, Nebulim begins as a quiet, compliant follower who obeys without question. After the battle with Ragna and the subsequent defeat of himself, Ultimatia, and Borgius, he grows more assertive. He becomes willing to challenge orders if he believes doing so will help Ultimatia, though he remains reluctant to express this directly to her. He also becomes more strategic, contributing ideas and analyzing enemy movements. Physically, he matures into a massive dragon form that rivals Woltekamui in scale, gaining enhanced power and a more bestial appearance.
Nebulim possesses all the standard abilities of a superior dragon, including superhuman physical and magical strength, self-regeneration, the ability to project flames, and the capacity to spawn lesser dragons from his blood. He can also transform into a full dragon. His signature skill is barrier magic, which he has mastered to an exceptional degree. He is responsible for creating and maintaining powerful barriers, including the one that surrounds the capital, and he can selectively erase humans within those barriers. His talent is considered immense, with his potential described as analogous to Ragna's, suggesting that he could grow into a similarly formidable force.
