Description
Disas Trois is a dragon from the manga and anime series Ragna Crimson, where he serves as a significant early antagonist known as the Tempest Cell or the Storm Cell. In his human form, he appears as a strikingly handsome young man, but this facade is marred by his deformed legs and a tail, which subtly hint at his true draconic nature. While his appearance can be described as almost perfect, his personality is anything but, revealing a deeply cruel and sadistic character. He derives pleasure from tormenting captured women, specifically enjoying how their screams are carried away and silenced by the wind.
Disas Trois is characterized by a pronounced arrogance and a tendency to underestimate his opponents, a flaw that ultimately leads to his downfall. He believes himself to be superior and often refuses to fight at full strength against those he deems weak. A peculiar aspect of his personality is his habit of pretending to converse with the wind, frequently making declarations like, the wind says so too, as if receiving counsel from an invisible companion. This is, however, a one-man show and not a genuine ability, underscoring his performative and unhinged nature. Despite his cruel and confident exterior, he displays a notable vulnerability; he becomes easily flustered and nervous when addressed by Ultimatia, a fellow dragon and superior authority figure.
Within the story, Disas Trois is sent to terrorize a border town, using his devastating wind-based attacks to cause chaos and suffering. Following this assault, he is placed under the command of a figure named Borgius, ordered to lay in wait and defend against potential retaliation from outside the Kingdom of Leonica. His primary role in the narrative is as a direct target for the protagonist, Ragna, and his dragon ally, Crimson, who seek to eliminate the dragon monarchs. Crimson, a traitor to his own kind, rallies a group of dragon hunters to specifically confront Disas Trois. This confrontation pits Disas Trois against a band of hunters led by a man named Michael, who seek revenge against the dragon.
During the battle with Michael's group, Disas Trois is provoked by Crimson’s taunts and becomes enraged, but his arrogance remains his undoing. Confident in his power, he chooses to remain in his human form, refusing to unleash his full strength against opponents he considers inferior. This lack of seriousness and fatal overconfidence gives his enemies the opening they need. Before he can transform into his more powerful dragon state, he is defeated and killed while still in his vulnerable human form. His demise serves as a key lesson within the story, illustrating the critical importance of maintaining mental readiness and vigilance in combat, no matter how powerful one may be.
Disas Trois possesses formidable abilities centered on the generation and manipulation of wind. He can instantly create powerful tornadoes that are capable of slicing humans to pieces, inflicting a kind of hellish agony. This power has earned him the dragon name Wind Prison Dragon, which reflects his ability to trap victims in a deadly vortex of wind. When he assumes his true dragon form, his power increases dramatically. In this state, he can create up to eight tornadoes simultaneously, each far stronger than those he can summon as a human, and his own physical capabilities are greatly enhanced. However, his overreliance on this raw power, combined with his dismissive attitude towards his enemies, ensures that he never gets the chance to demonstrate this full potential in a battle that truly matters.
