Description
Garm Urban, also known as the Bladewolf, is the First Chief Swordsman of the Argentum Corps and the personal sword master to Princess Starlia Rage. He is an elderly man with light grey hair and green eyes, which he tends to keep narrowed or closed most of the time. Garm wears the standard armor of the Argentum Corps, and at his hip carries a long silverine sword. Despite his advanced age, he is recognized as the strongest member of the Corps and the mightiest swordsman in the country, a testament to his lifelong dedication to the blade.

In personality, Garm is a venerable and exceptionally skilled swordsman held in high regard by his comrades. He is deeply dedicated to his practice and extraordinarily close to his fellow soldiers and the princess he serves, whom he views almost like a niece. He is characterized by an unshakeable determination and a sincere humility that allows him to recognize true strength in others, even when it leads to personal doubt. His primary motivation is a constant drive for self-improvement. This is most clearly demonstrated when he witnesses Ragna's overwhelming power. Instead of succumbing to bitterness over his own defeat, Garm resolves to become stronger, aspiring to be the first human to reach Ragna's level of strength, which he correctly identifies as the result of relentless training rather than innate talent.

Within the story's narrative, Garm serves as a foundational pillar of the Argentum Corps, an example of peak human ability before the arrival of anomalously powerful figures like Ragna and Crimson. In an early major battle, he delivers the final, decisive blow against the dragon Dornea. His worldview is later shattered during a confrontation with Ragna, where he is defeated almost instantly. This loss, compounded by the realization that the young princess Starlia has developed romantic feelings for Ragna, plunges him into a deep depression. He recovers from this low point by dedicating himself to observing and learning from Ragna, using him as a living benchmark for his own training. During the war against the Winged Bloodline, Garm fights alongside Ragna and others, such as Shin Cutlass, against the dragon Taratectra, where he continues to refine his skills by witnessing Ragna's techniques. In the final assault on the royal capital, he confronts the superior dragon Olto Zora. Despite fighting with tremendous strength and nearly winning, Garm is killed when his opponent unleashes a berserker transformation, making him the first major casualty of that final battle.

Garm's key relationships are central to his character. His bond with Starlia is that of a devoted teacher and guardian, and her admiration for him is profound; she describes his swordsmanship as a state of being one with the blade. His relationship with Ragna is complex, evolving from defeated rival to inspired student and mutual respect. Although he experiences jealousy, he ultimately comes to respect Ragna immensely, not only for his strength but also for his perseverance, often encouraging him to continue leading from the front lines. Regarding his abilities, Garm is a peerless swordsman whose skill is so refined that his body and sword appear to move as a single, seamless entity. While a normal human without magical or superhuman enhancements, his speed, technique, and experience are such that he is considered the strongest normal human swordsman in the setting, a master who can fight on par with powerful foes through sheer martial prowess until the limits of his humanity are exceeded by supernatural threats.
