Description
Isaac Starn is a major in the army of Reze and serves as a key advisor to the Silver Armored Brigade. He is a young, serious, and bespectacled officer whose grounded personality stands in stark contrast to the many eccentric and unconventional members of his brigade. Within the group, he is commonly referred to by the nicknames Ike or Glasses, though he is not without his own points of insecurity, particularly his receding hairline, which leads to the occasional teasing nickname of Baldy.
Before the main events of the story, Isaac held the rank of lieutenant and was assigned to investigate a new drug trafficking case affecting Reze and its neighboring countries. This operation ended in failure, as he was unable to capture the mastermind behind the scheme, resulting in his demotion. Despite this setback, he was later promoted two ranks and given a new, more dangerous assignment. He was dispatched to serve as an advisor to Starlia Reze, a figure seen as a growing threat by the country's establishment. This position was particularly grim, as his two predecessors had both died while on duty, making him the third person to take on the role.
Isaac is defined by his sharp sense of duty, rationality, and pragmatic approach. He often acts as the voice of reason among his comrades, bearing the brunt of their antics with a level-headed demeanor. Beneath this exterior of military strictness lies a deep well of courage and loyalty to those he commands. He has earned the high trust and respect of his subordinates not just through his authority, but through his competence and genuine care. He is an excellent strategist who primarily handles logistics for the brigade, but he is also a highly capable swordsman in his own right. His combat prowess was notably displayed during a battle against the Platinum Tiara, where he led his unit effectively and even deflected multiple magical projectiles with his sword.
Throughout the narrative, Isaac proves his resilience and leadership. During a significant military conflict, he engaged the Platinum Tiara at a training ground and, with support from the enigmatic Crimson, achieved victory. However, this encounter led to him being placed under Crimson's hypnotic suggestion for a period. He went on to command the Silver Armored Brigade during the assault on the royal capital, surviving a fierce battle against Orto Zola and delivering the final blow to the mortally wounded Borgius. After the war against the Winged Bloodline, he sustained injuries but survived, and he continued to be protected alongside Starlia by Crimson.
Isaac shares a complex and significant relationship with his commander, Starlia Reze. It is because of her comment about him having a stuck-on glasses face that he began wearing his signature eyewear. The glasses are purely non-prescription; he interpreted her remark as an order, and finding that they softened his naturally harsh gaze, he continued to wear them. His dynamic with Crimson is equally impactful, as Crimson provides the support needed to secure a major victory but also temporarily robs Isaac of his free will through hypnosis. Isaac maintains a strong bond with the members of his brigade, who view him as a reliable and grounded leader. A notable detail about his appearance is that his glasses serve no corrective function, existing solely as a defining personal trait that helped improve his severe expression.
