Description
Jingke is the sentient spirit sword belonging to the protagonist, Wang Ling, in the animated series The Daily Life of the Immortal King. As a spiritual sword, Jingke is not a human character but a living weapon with its own will and personality, capable of independent thought and action.

In the second season of the series, Jingke plays a crucial role as a catalyst for the main conflict. Following Wang Ling's earlier manipulation of natural laws, the world's psionic power levels begin to drop dramatically. Jingke takes action to remedy this crisis, but in the process of using a vast amount of power, the spirit sword inadvertently rips a crack in the fabric of space itself. This spatial rift becomes a gateway that allows demons to infiltrate the human world, where they proceed to steal the spiritual energy essential for powering society. Because of these events, Jingke is indirectly responsible for the demon invasion that Wang Ling must then confront. This event shows Jingke's proactive nature and a strong sense of duty, as the sword acted to protect the world, despite the unforeseen consequences.

Although Jingke is a weapon, it possesses a distinct personality and is shown to have strong bonds with others. The sword's primary relationship is, of course, with its master, Wang Ling. As his spiritual sword, Jingke is intrinsically linked to him and serves him. Evidence of the sword's personal connections extends further, as Jingke has a sister, who is a scabbard spirit. This relationship demonstrates that Jingke is part of a family of spiritual artifacts and is capable of showing protective familial affection. During an attack by the Rat Squad, an elite force of antagonists, Jingke acts to save his sister by merging with her. This fusion creates a new, more powerful combined entity named Jingbai, which is then able to easily defeat the attackers. This act of merging is both a notable ability and a demonstration of his commitment to protecting his kin.

Over the course of the series, Jingke undergoes a form of growth and change. One episode synopsis from the third season explicitly notes that Jingke "reaches the adolescence of a spiritual sword". This indicates that spiritual swords in this universe have life cycles and developmental stages, and Jingke is shown maturing through them. The later event of merging with his sister to become Jingbai in the fifth season can be seen as another significant development in his existence, showing an evolution of his capabilities and his relationships.

Jingke's notable abilities are intrinsically tied to its nature as a high-level spiritual sword. The sword possesses immense spiritual power, so much so that using it excessively can tear a hole in the fabric of reality. Beyond raw power, Jingke's abilities include sentience and independent mobility, the capacity to form familial bonds with other spirits, and the advanced skill of merging with another spirit, like his sister, to form a more powerful combined entity with enhanced combat capabilities. This merging ability suggests that Jingke has a degree of fluidity in its form, allowing it to transcend its base nature as a simple sword.
