Description
Yui Goidō, a 16-year-old student at Maijima Private High School, becomes the thirteenth capture target for Keima Katsuragi. Hailing from Maijima's oldest and most prestigious family, the Goidōs, she lives under her overprotective mother's strict control. This upbringing enforced traditional values, demanding Yui wear kimonos and forbade her passion for drumming. Her frustration with this oppression created a "crevice" in her heart, enabling a runaway spirit to possess her.
A crashing collision with Keima on a staircase during the Body Switch Arc triggered an unexpected body swap. Inhabiting Keima's body, Yui tasted unprecedented freedom: attending school without restrictions, interacting casually with peers, and most significantly, seizing the chance to join Chihiro's band, the 2-B Pencils, as their drummer. Though initially uncomfortable in a male form, she gradually adopted a more assertive, masculine demeanor, switching her personal pronoun to "boku." This period let her play drums openly for the first time. Simultaneously, Keima suffered physically within the confines of Yui's life in the Goidō household.
The body swap resolved through a confrontation where Yui defied her mother and kissed Keima, expelling the spirit. This experience caused lasting changes: she abandoned kimonos for the comfort of the boys' school uniform and tied her loose tea-green hair into a long ponytail. She formally joined the 2-B Pencils as drummer, though her initial boyish look briefly confused the band. Despite altered memories post-conquest, residual feelings surfaced later when she openly confessed her love to Keima in the library during the Goddess hunt, ignoring rumors about him and Kanon Nakagawa.
Yui was subsequently confirmed as the host of the combat-specialist goddess Mars, one of the Jupiter Sisters. Mars grants her superhuman strength, aligning with Yui's developing assertiveness. Having awakened recently, Mars supports Yui's romantic feelings for Keima. The goddess communicates through reflections and shadows, and they collaborate, such as testing other band members for goddess possession by calling out in divine language during practice. Keima verified Mars' presence by staging a rescue where Haqua impersonated a Vintage agent.
Yui maintains her role as the band's drummer. She occasionally assists Keima's missions, like helping Elsie recover post-Hinoki arc. Her dynamic with Keima remains complicated by lingering affection and physiological aftereffects from their body swap, causing his heart to race disorientingly when she approaches him.
