Description
Cédric Jeanne Elmeyer is the crown prince of the Ellmeyer Empire and the younger half-brother of the demon king Claude Jeanne Elmeyer. He is the primary love interest in the true route of the otome game Regalia of Saints, Demons, and Maidens, the world in which the story takes place. Initially, he is the former fiancé of Aileen Lauren D'Autriche before breaking off their engagement in a public manner.
On the surface, Cedric cultivates a perfect princely facade. With his attractive appearance, including blonde hair and blue eyes, he secures popularity and charisma among the nobility, presenting himself as a benevolent heir to the throne. Beneath this exterior, however, lies a deeply petty, insecure, and self-centered individual. He is driven by a profound inferiority complex toward his older half-brother Claude, whose superior skills and status as the emperor's firstborn make Cedric perpetually fearful of threats to his own position as heir. This resentment manifests as narcissism, selfishness, and a lack of genuine care for the people he is meant to rule. He is also prone to making reckless decisions without foresight, often acting out of spite in ways that ultimately damage his own standing.
Cedric's primary motivation is to secure his position as heir and prove himself superior to Claude, though his methods are consistently underhanded and counterproductive. His actions are frequently driven by a bruised ego, particularly when Aileen gracefully accepts his rejection and moves on with her life. Unable to cope with the fact that she no longer loves him and has instead grown closer to Claude, he views their relationship as another defeat at his half-brother's hands. This pushes him to become increasingly vengeful toward Aileen, seeking to reclaim her not out of love, but out of personal pride.
Within the story, Cedric serves as a primary antagonist, especially in the early arcs. He harasses his former fiancée Aileen and becomes enraged when she fails to react to his provocations as expected. His antagonism escalates to orchestrating assassination attempts against Claude, collaborating with his new fiancée, Lilia Rainworth. In a significant act of resentment, he kidnaps Aileen with the intent of assaulting her to trigger Claude's transformation into a dragon, viewing this as a strategy to eliminate his rival.
His key relationships are defined by rivalry and manipulation. His relationship with his half-brother Claude is distant and hostile, fueled by jealousy. His engagement to Lilia Rainworth is similarly unstable, as he is unaware that she is manipulating him for her own ends. Despite his superficial popularity, Cedric lacks close confidants or deep friendships, with his connections remaining largely transactional or self-serving.
Cedric experiences notable character development as the story progresses. He eventually comes to recognize Lilia's manipulation and the true consequences of his own actions, leading to regret and a shift toward redemption. He assists Aileen on multiple occasions, notably when Claude loses his memories and magic, helping her navigate royal opposition in her efforts to reunite with Claude. His journey evolves from that of an envious antagonist to a figure seeking atonement, though his motivations and relationships remain complex even after this shift.
Regarding notable abilities, Cedric does not possess any particularly unique or powerful magical talents that distinguish him. His influence stems primarily from his political position as crown prince and his ability to maintain a charismatic public image. His lack of exceptional abilities compared to Claude is a significant source of his inferiority complex.
