Description
Elnora Samaya is the true identity of the woman known as Prospera Mercury, the CEO of the Shin Sei Development Corporation and the mother of both Suletta Mercury and Ericht Samaya. Before adopting the persona of Prospera, Elnora was a test pilot for the Vanadis Institute, an organization researching the medical applications of GUND technology, which uses prosthetic limbs to help humans adapt to space. She herself lost her right arm at a young age and was saved by her teacher, Dr. Cardo Nabo, who fitted her with a GUND prosthetic. Her life was shattered during an event known as the Vanadis Incident, when the Mobile Suit Development Council, led by Delling Rembran, ordered an attack on the Institute to suppress its development of Gundams. During the attack, Elnora piloted the Gundam Lfrith with her young daughter Ericht aboard. Her husband, Nadim Samaya, sacrificed himself to ensure their escape.

Following the loss of her husband and colleagues, Elnora went into hiding, eventually changing her name to Prospera Mercury and dedicating her life to a singular, long-term plan for revenge against Delling Rembran and the Benerit Group. She became the head of Shin Sei Development Corporation, a company that rebuilt the damaged Lfrith into the Gundam Aerial. At some point, her daughter Ericht’s consciousness was transferred into Aerial, making the mobile suit her only physical vessel and transforming Prospera’s quest from one of pure vengeance to a desperate mission to create a world where her true daughter can exist freely. Prospera’s personality is characterized by a chilling, calculating calmness. She is a master manipulator who uses her words and intelligence to maneuver situations to her advantage, often treating the criticism of others with a dismissive and mocking air. She presents a facade of a loving mother to Suletta, whom she raised on Mercury, but her actions consistently prioritize her original daughter, Ericht, seeing Suletta as a tool or a pawn in her grand scheme.

In the story, Prospera is the driving force behind many major events. She enrolls Suletta at the Asticassia School of Technology to get close to Delling’s daughter, Miorine Rembran. From the shadows, she orchestrates conflicts and uses the school’s dueling system to increase the Aerial’s Permet Score, which is crucial for her ultimate objective. A key aspect of her role is her secret partnership with Delling Rembran on a massive project called Quiet Zero. While Delling envisioned Quiet Zero as a system to end all war by controlling all Permet-linked technology, Prospera secretly intends to use it for her own purpose: to create a massive data storm network across the Earth Sphere where Ericht could exist as a free, sentient being beyond the confines of the Gundam Aerial.

Key relationships define her actions. Her primary relationship is with her biological daughter, Ericht, whose consciousness resides in the Aerial. All of Prospera’s schemes are a twisted manifestation of her motherly love for her. In contrast, her relationship with her second daughter, Suletta, is one of deep manipulation. She showers Suletta with affectionate words and a guiding mantra, but does not hesitate to discard her when she is no longer useful, revealing that Suletta is seen primarily as a tool for Ericht’s salvation. Her arch-nemesis is Delling Rembran, the man who ordered the attack that destroyed her family, yet she ironically allies with him to bring his own project, Quiet Zero, to fruition for her own ends. Over the course of the series, Prospera’s physical health visibly declines as she suffers the long-term effects of data storm exposure from piloting Gundams, with her hair turning white. Her development culminates in a confrontation with Suletta, who rejects Prospera’s request to sacrifice herself for Ericht. Seeing her daughters choose their own path forward, Prospera finally renounces her vengeance and is able to let go of her obsession, finding a fragile peace by the series’ end.

Prospera is a highly notable and formidable antagonist due to her intelligence and piloting abilities. As a former test pilot, she is a skilled operator of Gundams, though the physical toll of using the GUND Format is severe. Her true power, however, lies in her strategic and political acumen. As the CEO of Shin Sei, she wields corporate influence and excels at psychological manipulation, often getting what she wants not through force, but through careful words and calculated deceit that leave her opponents outmaneuvered and compliant. Her ultimate plan involved using the Gundam Aerial as the trigger for Quiet Zero, demonstrating her deep understanding of the Permet technology that is the foundation of her world.
