Description
Karameel is a supporting character in the Fairy Tail: 100 Years Quest storyline, recognized as the dedicated assistant of Mercphobia, the Water Dragon God. Her loyalty to Mercphobia is the central driving force behind her actions throughout the narrative.

In terms of background, Karameel is a young woman of average stature with a curvaceous figure. She possesses long, wavy dark hair, which she styles with a distinctive side-braid and an upward-curled strand on the right side of her head, along with dark eyes. Her characteristic attire consists of a cropped, navy blue button-down coat with shoulder pads and decorative sleeve folds, a short skirt secured with a large belt, thigh-high boots, and accessories including diamond-shaped earrings and square-framed glasses.

Her personal history is directly tied to Mercphobia, who rescued her from a shipwreck at sea. Following this event, she became his assistant, and her profound sense of gratitude evolved into unwavering devotion. This history explains the extreme lengths she is willing to go to for his well-being.

Personality-wise, Karameel initially presents herself as stern, stubborn, and blunt. She is condescending toward outsiders, particularly those associated with the mage Elefseria, and shows little patience for visitors to Ermina, as demonstrated by her curt treatment of Team Natsu. She displays considerable faith in Mercphobia’s power, confidently asserting that the Fairy Tail mages would stand no chance against him. However, this abrasive exterior masks a deep-seated dedication and a desperate need to protect her master, even from himself.

Karameel’s primary motivation stems from her worry over Mercphobia’s uncontrollable powers. Fearing that his immense strength would eventually cause harm to himself or the people of Ermina, she sought a solution to give him a normal life, free from the burden of being a Dragon God. This concern directly leads her to involve the White Wizard, Faris, whom she asks to steal Mercphobia’s magic power.

Her role in the story is largely centered on the Water Dragon God arc. She functions first as a gatekeeper to Mercphobia, then as a catalyst for the central conflict. When Mercphobia invites Team Natsu to his temple, Karameel is displeased but obeys his wishes. After Diabolos mages attack and Mercphobia is injured protecting her, she blames the Fairy Tail mages and demands they leave. The situation escalates dramatically when the White Wizard, rather than simply removing Mercphobia’s power, restricts and then fully returns his magic, causing him to go berserk and rampage through Ermina in his dragon form. Faced with the destruction she inadvertently caused, a despairing Karameel tearfully begs Team Natsu to slay the Water God Dragon, a plea that Natsu initially rejects, angrily reproaching her for her actions and reliance on others to solve her problems.

Key relationships define her character arc. Her bond with Mercphobia is paramount: he saved her life, gave her a purpose, and she in turn tries to save him from his own power. Her interactions with Team Natsu are initially hostile, but she ultimately places her trust in them when there is no other option. Her relationship with Faris is transactional and misguided, based on a miscalculation of the White Wizard’s true intentions.

Regarding character development, Karameel undergoes a transformation from a seemingly confident and condescending assistant to a guilt-ridden and desperate woman forced to confront the consequences of her actions. Her arc involves learning a harsh lesson about the dangers of taking control away from someone else, even with good intentions.

Later in the narrative, Karameel demonstrates notable abilities, particularly after being affected by a wave of Dragonization magic. In this state, she does not transform fully into a dragon but instead manifests draconic features such as horns, clawed hands, a tail, and scales. In this form, she gains abilities associated with a Water Dragon, including underwater breathing, enhanced swimming speed, and augmented physical strength. She is also capable of using Water Dragon Slayer Magic, which allows her to move through water with ease and fire powerful water-based attacks.
