Description
Mabel Rayveil is the last descendant of the Ice Clan, a family known for its long tradition of guardianship. She is the keeper of the legendary Frost Sword, an ice blade said to be the only weapon capable of defeating the Fire Dragon. Her connection to ice is deeply personal: her emotional state directly influences the ice around her, and when she experiences negative feelings, her surroundings—and sometimes she herself—begin to freeze.

Her personality is marked by a mix of stubbornness and social awkwardness. She does not always grasp social cues or situations, yet she holds a firm respect for anyone who offers her help. She can display a playful side, occasionally teasing others, but beneath that lies a deeply vulnerable nature, especially when it comes to her complicated feelings for the Uncle, whom she calls Wolf after a video game character. The Uncle’s obliviousness to her affection often sends her into emotional turmoil, creating a chaotic dynamic between them.

Her motivations are rooted in duty and survival: she must protect the Frost Sword and, by extension, the world from the Fire Dragon. This responsibility gives her a strong sense of purpose, though her personal desires sometimes conflict with her role. She is also driven to maintain the legacy of the Ice Clan, as she is its last descendant.

In the story, Mabel acts as a key ally to the Uncle. She first appears in Episode 4, where she is introduced as the keeper of the Frost God Sword, the only weapon that can defeat the Inferno Dragon. Her role is essential to the Uncle’s original quest, and she continues to interact with him and his nephew Takafumi after his return to modern Japan. Her relationship with the Uncle is central, shaped by her unspoken romantic interest and his obliviousness, which leads to repeated emotional upheaval for her.

Throughout the series, Mabel shows subtle development as she learns to manage her emotions in order to control her ice powers. Her ability to sing is notable—she is exceptionally good at it and can replicate melodies from video game music, a skill that stands out. Her strange, loud laugh is another distinctive trait. Her primary abilities revolve around ice manipulation: she can generate ice structures, lower temperatures, and launch powerful ice-based attacks, often channeled through the Frost Sword. When emotionally stressed, her control over this power can become unstable, reflecting her inner state.
