Description
Kyoko Jingu is a central character in the series, initially introduced as a powerful magical girl and the primary antagonist to the protagonist, Jahy. She is a high school student with a transformative ability that grants her magical powers, and her actions are the catalyst for the main events of the story.

In her civilian identity, Kyoko appears as a young girl with long, dark hair typically tied in a ponytail, often wearing her school uniform. When she transforms into her magical girl form, her appearance changes dramatically; her hair becomes shorter and changes to a light, often described as light blonde or silver, color. In this form, she wears a distinctive short dress and sports large ribbons on each side of her head, with a notable black beauty mark remaining under her right eye as a constant feature. Her transformation also grants her a magical staff and the ability to fly.

Kyoko’s personality is defined by a strong sense of heroism and a serious, earnest nature. She is highly intelligent and takes her responsibilities very seriously, often approaching situations with a level of intensity that can be intimidating or overwhelming to others. Her core motivation stems from a desire to protect humanity from misfortune. This drive led her to decide to collect and destroy powerful mana crystals, which she believes bring calamity to any human who possesses them. She views her mission as a necessary sacrifice, willingly subjecting herself to the terrible bad luck that each crystal emits. She endures constant accidents, such as being struck by lightning, hit by trucks, or having ceilings collapse on her, with remarkable resilience. Instead of seeing this as a burden, Kyoko becomes excited that the misfortune is happening to her rather than innocent people, which reinforces her commitment to her duty.

Her role in the story is pivotal, as she is the one responsible for destroying the great mana crystal of the Dark Realm. This act shattered the demon world and stripped its inhabitants, including the powerful second-in-command Jahy, of their power, scattering them across the human world. This event establishes the primary conflict, as Jahy seeks to gather the remaining crystal shards to restore her realm, while Kyoko continues her mission to find and destroy them permanently. However, their dynamic is not static. After their initial antagonistic encounters, their relationship evolves significantly. Kyoko eventually befriends Jahy and even begins working a part-time job alongside her at the Izakaya Mao, a pub managed by the Demon Lord. This development shifts Kyoko from a straightforward antagonist to a reluctant ally and companion, although her persistent and sometimes socially awkward attempts at friendship often unsettle the more guarded Jahy.

Throughout the series, Kyoko undergoes notable development. Her backstory reveals that she was an ordinary girl who experienced significant misfortune even before gaining her powers. She gained her magical abilities after a near-drowning experience, where she encountered a mysterious light. This light was later revealed to be Su, the younger sister of the Demon Lord, who was seeking a human intermediary to contact her sibling. Embracing this role, Kyoko initially remained unaware of the crystals' connection to the Dark Realm until her actions led to its collapse. As the story progresses, she transitions from a misguided but well-intentioned savior acting alone to a more integrated individual. Her arc involves seeking atonement, offering friendship to the Demon Lord, and learning to balance her solitary mission with forming genuine, if complicated, bonds with Jahy and the other pub patrons. Her persistent loneliness and self-imposed duty to bear the suffering of others gradually give way to a fragile sense of belonging and camaraderie.

In terms of abilities, Kyoko is an exceptionally powerful magical girl. Her primary powers include flight, energy projection, and the ability to manipulate matter, such as turning objects to dust. She can summon her magical staff and has demonstrated the capacity for dimensional travel between the human world and the demon realm. Her most notable ability, however, might be her superhuman endurance and durability, which allows her to survive the constant stream of lethal accidents caused by the mana crystals she carries, as well as direct combat with powered-up demons.
