Description
Cosette Schneider is the original human identity of the Musicart known as Destiny in the anime takt op. Destiny. Born in France, Cosette fled her war-torn homeland with her family due to attacks from the creatures known as D2s, relocating to America three years before the start of the story. She was the younger sister of Anna Schneider and a close childhood friend of the pianist Takt Asahina, sharing a deep bond with him and often encouraging his musical talents. Cosette was a cheerful and skilled pianist herself, having learned to play from her mother, and held a particular fondness for the Tarte Tatin dessert that her sister Anna would prepare.

The tragic event that defines her character occurs during a Symphonica festival where she convinces Takt to perform a four-hand piano duet with her. When D2s attack the festival, Cosette suffers a fatal wound while protecting Takt. As she dies, a mysterious pendant she wears activates, causing her to be reborn not as a human, but as a Musicart named Destiny, born from the score of Ludwig van Beethoven's Symphony No. 5 in C minor, Op. 67, also known as the Symphony of Destiny. This transformation is highly unnatural, as Musicarts are not typically born from a dying human host, making Destiny an anomaly from the moment of her creation. While she retains Cosette's physical appearance in a general sense, her eyes gain red outlining and an unnatural shine, and markings such as six stars can appear around her left eye when she uses her powers, reflecting her altered state.

As Destiny, her personality is a stark contrast to the cheerful Cosette. She presents a ladylike and elegant appearance, but her facial expressions rarely change, and her tone of voice is consistently calm, polite, and respectful. Despite this composed exterior, she has an unconventional and blunt personality with a famously sharp tongue, making her remarks often unexpectedly biting or straightforward. One of her most defining traits is a pronounced sweet tooth; she loves eating sweet foods, especially Anna's cooking, and is frequently seen asking when she can have something sweet. At the beginning of her existence as Destiny, she has no memories of her former life as Cosette, and her primary directive is to eliminate the D2s. Initially appearing mechanical and stiff in her behavior, as the story progresses, she begins to show more emotional range and a softer side, such as when she secretly helps Takt by borrowing a piano for him to compose music.

Her role in the story is that of the primary fighter and partner to the conductor Takt. Having made a pact with him, she fights alongside him to exterminate D2s, but her unstable nature comes with a critical flaw: her powers are heavily dependent on Takt's life force, and her uncontrolled energy consumption can deplete his vitality. This fatal problem drives the main characters on their journey to the Symphonica headquarters in New York in search of a solution. Her key relationship is with Takt, who is her unwilling conductor, and Anna, Cosette's sister, who acts as a caretaker for both Takt and Destiny during their journey. Over time, the initially robotic Destiny grows closer to them, and her bond with Takt deepens, culminating at the end of the series when she sacrifices her remaining life force to save him from death. In her final moments, she kisses him, tells him she loves him, and offers her first genuine smile before disappearing, leaving behind the pendant that contains her power.

As a Musicart, Destiny possesses a range of notable abilities. She has incredible superhuman strength, capable of delivering powerful kicks to monsters, carrying a piano with ease, and inadvertently causing significant collateral damage to her surroundings. Her durability is similarly enhanced, allowing her to smash through walls without injury. She can also fly, detect D2s from long distances, and sense very subtle vibrations. A unique ability seemingly specific to her is the power to switch between a non-combat sleep mode and an armored mode for battle. In her armored mode, she summons a transforming weapon that can switch between a sword and a sniper rifle. Her fighting style is powerful and direct, but due to her unstable energy consumption, she requires a massive intake of calories, especially sweets, to function without draining her conductor's life force. While the original Destiny born from Cosette ceases to exist, her legacy continues, as Anna Schneider later inherits her power, becoming a new vessel for the Destiny Musicart.
