Description
Giselotte Orteus is the queen consort of King Jilk Orteus and the biological mother of the protagonist, Haruto Zenfis, as well as his younger brother, Raias Orteus. Her position and history are marked by great prestige, as she is known by the title "Lightning Princess" for her formidable power as a warrior. She was a member of the Demon Lord Subjugation Squad and earned the king's favor, along with her position as queen, through the singular achievement of single-handedly defeating the Demon Lord.
Despite this heroic past, Giselotte is driven by a deeply egocentric and ambitious nature. Her primary motivation is the preservation and consolidation of her own power, with an intense fear of losing her position as queen. This selfishness is most starkly revealed in her reaction to her firstborn son. When an assessment indicated that Haruto had a low magic level, she considered him a disgrace to the royal family and made the decision to abandon him immediately. Initially, her plan was to position her other son, Raias, as a controllable heir to the throne. However, her ambition quickly escalated; she began plotting to eliminate all other members of the royal family, including Raias, to claim the title of queen for herself.
Her role in the story is that of a primary antagonist, and her cruelty extends beyond her direct family. To eliminate any potential threat to her authority, she even targets the innocent young child Charlotte Zenfis, whom Haruto has come to cherish as his sister. This act proves to be her undoing. By targeting Charlotte, she incurs the full wrath of her abandoned son. Operating under his alter ego "Shiva," Haruto retaliates against her. As punishment, he forces her to wear a collar that has the power to sever her head on his command, a device that closely resembles a slave's collar. This event marks a significant turning point, forcing Giselotte out of public life, as she can no longer appear in court, leading to rumors within the kingdom that she had accidentally put on a collar she could not remove.
Following this humiliation, her psychological state deteriorates further. She continues to scheme, threatening her children Raias and Marianne Orteus to extract information about Haruto's identity as the "Black Warrior". In these interactions, she becomes increasingly unhinged and hysterical. When Marianne merely glances at the collar around her neck, Giselotte reacts with violent rage, attempting to strangle the child. Her development throughout the story is a downward spiral from a celebrated, powerful queen to a desperate and paranoid figure stripped of her public dignity and controlled by the very son she rejected. Her notable abilities are rooted in her legendary status as the "Lightning Princess," highlighting that she possesses immense combat prowess and magical power, though it is ultimately no match for the protagonist's overwhelming strength.
