Description
Daya is a supporting character in the story, a dwarven warrior and a member of Kabru's adventuring party. At 58 years old, she is mature in years but still an active and formidable frontline fighter. Her appearance is distinct, characterized by a short stature, a common trait among dwarves, and straw-brown hair styled into plaits with a long fringe that completely covers her eyes. She typically wears practical adventuring gear, including a fur-lined tunic, shin guards, and sandals, and her primary weapon is an axe, which she wields with one hand.

Personality-wise, Daya comes across as a woman of few words with a very calm and composed demeanor. This reserved and somewhat detached nature is a direct result of her background; she was born and raised far away from civilization, serving as a guardian of a dungeon. This isolated upbringing shaped her personality, making her seem less immediately expressive than others. However, her quiet exterior belies a dynamic and overpowering fighting style. Once a battle begins, she fights with immense power and aggression, mowing down monsters with her axe. Her combat instincts are so sharp that her movements are immediately recognizable to her allies, even under the effect of an illusion spell that distorts her appearance. Despite her gruff and reserved nature in combat, she is not without her lighter moments. She can be excited by pleasant surprises, such as discovering valuable treasures like a beaded necklace, showing an appreciation for beautiful things.

Daya's motivations are rooted in her past. She hails from a clan tasked with guarding the Eastern Labyrinth, and she left her people to become an adventurer for a very specific reason: to understand the outside world and know what it is they are sworn to protect. This desire for knowledge and context drives her to explore the dungeon and face its dangers. Within her party, her role is a crucial one. As a frontline fighter, she works alongside her comrade Kuro to engage enemies directly in melee combat, using her strength and axe skills to protect the more vulnerable members of her group.

Her key relationships are centered around her party. She has complete trust in her leader, Kabru, viewing him as a highly competent and socially adept leader who is the only one fit to be in charge of the Island and its dungeon. She supports his goal of exploring the dungeon to ultimately eliminate both monsters and the dungeon itself. Kabru, in turn, acts in a gentlemanly manner toward her. She spends a significant amount of time with Holm, the party member closest to her in age, but the two are noted to not be particularly close. More notably, Daya has a pre-existing, negative impression of Namari, the dwarf warrior from the main party. This animosity is not personal but stems from the actions of Namari's father, a weapons dealer whose deeds caused the reputation of dwarves to drop sharply among the people on the island. This fallout made it difficult for Daya to form her own party, leading to her lingering resentment towards Namari despite never having met her.

Throughout the story, Daya demonstrates her ability to adapt and think critically. During a harrowing encounter on the fourth floor, her party is subjected to an illusion that makes allies appear as monsters. While others are confused, Kabru is able to identify her by her unique and overwhelming fighting style, and she is later seen taking a hostage to help neutralize the threat. On another occasion, when her party is ambushed and nearly killed, she is the first to realize that the adventurers who stole their treasure were also the ones who rescued them and that they were likely motivated by hunger. This shows a practical and analytical side to her personality. She is also shown to be contemplative about the moral corruption on the island, lamenting that those involved in nefarious practices are only hurting themselves and questioning whether to report the crimes to the lord of the Island. Her notable abilities include her immense physical strength as a dwarf, her mastery of the axe in combat, and her capacity for logical observation under pressure.
