Chilchuck Tims is a half-foot, a small-statured race resembling humans with large, pointed ears. He has light skin, short auburn hair, and dark brown eyes. Standing about 110 centimeters tall, he is unusually tall for a half-foot and maintains a slender build through careful weight management. His typical attire for dungeon exploration consists of a brown padded vest, a green neck warmer over a white long-sleeved shirt, leather fingerless gloves, black pants, and leather boots. Despite his youthful and childlike appearance, which can be misleading, Chilchuck is 29 years old, an age that is equivalent to a human in his early fifties due to his race's longer lifespan. He is originally from the Eastern Continent and is married, with three adult daughters, though he has been separated from his wife for several years.

In personality, Chilchuck is the most mature and pragmatic member of his adventuring party, often serving as the voice of reason against the more eccentric or idealistic tendencies of his companions. He is shrewd, cautious, and strictly professional, having learned from difficult past experiences that half-foots are often exploited and undervalued by other races. As a result of this exploitation, he rarely accepts jobs without being paid in advance and is very guarded about his personal life, which he prefers to keep completely separate from his work. He believes that interpersonal issues, particularly those stemming from romantic entanglements, are the most common cause of adventuring parties splitting apart, which informs his reluctance to share personal details with his teammates. While he generally goes along with the group's decisions, he is not afraid to speak his mind bluntly when he believes someone is about to do something reckless or life-threatening. His sense of responsibility for the party's safety in his area of expertise is immense, and he becomes visibly agitated when his warnings about traps or dangers are ignored. His practical nature extends to the party's unusual diet; he is more flexible than some about eating monsters, but draws a firm line at consuming any creature that resembles a human, such as mermaids, due to concerns about both ethics and food poisoning.

Chilchuck's primary role within the party is as a locksmith, trap expert, and guide. Chilchuck has a complex dynamic with each member of the party led by Laios Touden. He sees Laios as an unusual and often socially oblivious person, and criticizes him for lacking the leadership and interpersonal skills needed to keep the party from falling apart, though he ultimately and somewhat reluctantly accepts him as the leader. He views the elf Marcille as an overly talkative and idealistic friend, acting as the practical foil to her more imaginative nature, and often finds himself exasperated by her lack of common sense. He holds a great deal of respect for the dwarf Senshi, both for his skill as a cook and as a capable adventurer. Chilchuck admits to envying the quiet respect that Senshi commands, wishing he could receive the same level of regard. He finds Namari, a former party member, to be the easiest person to talk to, largely because they share a similar practical outlook on life, and the two are depicted as drinking companions. He is also the founder of a union or guild for half-foots on the Island, an organization he established to prevent his race from being treated as disposable tools, such as being used as bait for monsters. He charges a mediation fee for his services advising other half-foots on contracts.

Over the course of the story, Chilchuck's guarded nature is rooted in a past where he was nearly used as bait for a succubus as a novice adventurer, a traumatic event that fueled his drive to create the union. His personal history also reveals a deep regret about his family, as his emotional reserve and refusal to be open with his wife led to their separation, and she left with their children. Although he has not seen them in years, he remains in contact with one of his daughters, who sends him letters. This backstory suggests a slow-burning development arc where he may learn to be more emotionally open, a theme that is touched upon when Marcille advises him to better understand the feelings of others after hearing about his family situation.
