TV-Series
Description
Kanchan Mia is a supporting character from the anime Housing Complex C, who works as one of the Middle Eastern interns employed by Mr. Koshide at the Tsurie fisheries. A large and muscular man, Kanchan is distinguished by his imposing physical presence, which contrasts with a gentle and protective demeanor, especially towards the young girl Kimi Shirokado. From their first meeting, he demonstrates a protective instinct, notably catching Kimi when she performs an unexplained and dangerous jump from the top of the Housing Complex C building. His personality is largely defined by a quiet, observant nature, but a conversation with another character, Rubel, reveals a potential vulnerability: Rubel observes that Kanchan is easily manipulated and could be tricked into confessing to an act he did not commit.

Beyond his protective role, Kanchan exhibits a strange and specific fascination with the local moss, which he is seen marveling at on multiple occasions. This peculiar interest is underscored when Kimi later discovers a large pile of the same moss inside the room of a reclusive neighbor, Hideo Momochi, hinting at a deeper, unsettling connection between Kanchan's curiosity and the bizarre occurrences plaguing the complex. His role in the story becomes critical as the horrific incidents escalate. In a key sequence, a badly wounded Kanchan follows Kimi and her friend Yuri into a storage cellar. While there, he experiences a terrifying vision of the past, witnessing a trauma that has afflicted the location. The aftermath of this vision leads directly to his demise; upon entering the cellar, Seichi Koshide and his wife Keiko attack Kanchan, brutally bashing him on the head with a crowbar.

Kanchan Mia's development is tragically cut short, serving as a catalyst for the series' climactic revelations. His character arc moves from that of a protective, enigmatic outsider with an unusual hobby to a victim who uncovers a fragment of the ancient evil haunting Kurosaki. His death is a pivotal moment that underscores the growing, tangible danger, and his final act of reciting words in an unintelligible language while trembling from his wounds adds a layer of mystery to his background and the true nature of what he witnessed. No reliable direct information exists regarding his life before arriving in Kurosaki, the specific cultural origins of his language, or any abilities beyond his physical strength and his unexplained sensitivity to the moss and the supernatural visions.
