Description
Granzort embodies the dual elemental powers of earth and fire. This sentient mecha communicates verbally and provides tactical advice to its pilot, Daichi Haruka, particularly regarding their shared Madou Force energy. Daichi summons Granzort by projecting an elemental rune circle onto the ground using his Madoshooter disc-shooting device.
Its combat abilities operate through a tiered spell system. Basic techniques feature projectile attacks such as Great Cannon and Energy Bolt, plus defensive moves like Rock Saver. Intermediate spells escalate destructive power with Buster Smasher and Flame Bomber, while advanced manipulation conjures elemental entities like Salamander. The ultimate weapon is the Erde Kaiser, a massive blade summoned by the chant "Jigu Dai Furizu" that channels concentrated fiery energy to bisect foes, often serving as the battle-ending strike.
Approximately midway through the narrative, Granzort evolves into Super Granzort. This enhanced form requires the updated "Super Change" summoning incantation and gains expanded capabilities, reflected visually in its updated design during animated sequences.
Granzort battles numerous adversaries throughout the conflict with the Jadou Clan, starting with Hellmetal forces and progressing to tougher opponents like Hydram, Wyburst, and Mushametal. Its combat record includes significant setbacks: an initial defeat leading to temporary expulsion from the lunar interior, and a later failure against the upgraded Jadou Kings. These conflicts culminate in Granzort's participation in the final battle against the cosmic-scale Great Jado God.
Within the broader mecha genre, Granzort shares operational similarities with Ryujinmaru from *Mashin Hero Wataru*, a connection featured in *Super Robot Wars DD*. Design parallels also exist with later mecha like the Gunmen units from *Gurren Lagann*, particularly concerning internal cockpit layouts and initial antagonist mecha profiles. Information regarding Granzort in the supplementary animated installments (The Last Magical War, Non-Stop Rabi, An Adventure Story) remains unspecified within the examined materials.
