Movie
Description
Mereoleona Vermillion is a noblewoman and the first daughter of the Clover Kingdom's House Vermillion, one of its royal families. She is known as the "Uncrowned, Undefeated Lioness" and is one of the most powerful mages in the kingdom. She initially refused the captaincy of the Crimson Lion squad to live in the wilderness and train in strong mana zones, stepping in as acting captain when her younger brother, Fuegoleon, was incapacitated.

Her background includes a long history as a captain-class mage. In flashbacks within the film, she is shown fighting alongside the Wizard King Julius Novachrono and other captains against the renegade Conrad Leto, demonstrating her strength and loyalty to the kingdom before the events of the main series. During the film's present timeline, she engages in combat with Princia, one of the former Wizard Kings resurrected by Conrad, engaging in a fierce fight that showcases her immense abilities.

Mereoleona's personality is loud, brash, fearsome, and brutally straightforward. She has a short temper and an aggressive demeanor, but she possesses a deep understanding of how to motivate others. She respects strength above all else and has no patience for weakness or excuses. Despite this, she is capable of surprising sophistication and politeness, as seen in her interactions with Acier Silva, whom she deeply admired and could never defeat. Her primary motivation is the pursuit of strength and the thrill of battle. She despises the stiffness of noble society and prefers living in the wild, hunting and fighting powerful beasts. She is driven by a desire to surpass her own limits and to push those around her to become stronger.

In the story, Mereoleona serves as a powerful mentor and a catalyst for growth for several key characters. She takes Noelle Silva under her wing, recognizing Noelle's dormant potential and encouraging her to stop thinking like a royal and start fighting like a beast. She also pushes her younger brother Leopold and others in the Crimson Lions by subjecting them to brutal training regimens, such as dragging them to a volcano. Her role in the film is as a formidable ally and a primary combatant, fighting to protect the Clover Kingdom against the resurrected Wizard Kings.

Key relationships include her younger brothers Fuegoleon and Leopold Vermillion, her former mentor Acier Silva, and Acier's daughter Noelle. She also has a mutual respect with Yami Sukehiro, who nicknames her "Sisgoleon." She fought Fuegoleon in a legendary brawl known as "Hot-Blooded Tuesday" prior to receiving her grimoire. Her connection to Acier is a significant part of her past, as she was trained by Acier and spent years trying and failing to defeat her, which only made Mereoleona stronger.

Her character development is defined by her transition from a solitary fighter who relied entirely on her own strength to someone who learns to trust and rely on others. While she initially rejected leadership roles, she eventually accepts the responsibility of captaining both the Crimson Lions and the Royal Knights, learning to balance her predatory nature with the duties of a leader.

Mereoleona's notable abilities center on flame magic, which she uses with overwhelming power and a close-combat style. She was the first character in the series to demonstrate Mana Zone, a high-level technique that allows her to draw mana from the surrounding environment to amplify her attacks. She also mastered Mana Skin, which she perfected to the point where she could bathe in lava. Her signature spells include Calidos Brachium, a heat arm that strikes with the force of a volcanic eruption. Over the course of the series, she develops even more powerful spells such as Calidus Brachium Purgatory: Cremation, Calidus Brachium Purgatory: Abyss, and Hellfire Incarnate. The latter transformation causes her body to become pure mana, granting her enough power to fight on equal terms with high-ranking demons. Later, she achieves Ultimate Flame Magic: Excelicitus Leonum, which allows her to transcend her human form and even resurrect the souls of fallen comrades.
