Description
Toru Kirishima serves as the primary enforcer and right-hand man to the boss of the Sakuragi family, a yakuza organization. Unbeknownst to many outside the family, he carries the fearsome nickname Sakuragi's Demon, a reputation earned from his past work as a notoriously cold-blooded and effective contract killer. He originally became involved with the yakuza specifically as an outlet for his violent and aggressive impulses, finding the role of an enforcer suited his wild and destructive nature perfectly.

Kirishima is initially presented as someone who has always had a violent streak, comfortable with brutal methods and known for never having lost a fight. His definition of having a polite conversation could involve brutally beating an enemy, and he was considered the person to call for any job that required intimidation or force. However, his personality undergoes a significant shift when he is given a new assignment by the family boss, Kazuhiko Sakuragi. He is tasked with becoming the caretaker for the boss’s young daughter, Yaeka, a job that stands in stark contrast to everything he knows. This responsibility forces him to adapt, and he begins to denounce his old ways, slowly learning how to care for a child and follow rules.

Kirishima's primary motivation throughout the story becomes ensuring the happiness and safety of Yaeka, and he grows to take his role as her caretaker with the utmost seriousness. The bond that develops between them is central to the narrative, as he transitions from a feared enforcer to a devoted father figure. His relationships with other members of the family also evolve; while he was once a lone agent of violence, he becomes more integrated and protective of his new, unconventional family unit. For instance, he has a noted dynamic with fellow family member Kei Sugihara, who often finds himself the unfortunate target of Kirishima's less dangerous frustrations.

His role in the story is that of the protagonist, and his character arc is one of redemption and self-discovery. The contrast between his deadly capabilities and his growing gentleness with Yaeka is a core source of both drama and heartwarming moments. Although he works to leave his demonic reputation behind, that side of him has not disappeared. When Yaeka is threatened or hurt by a rival gang, Kirishima is capable of reverting to his old persona, unleashing his full violent wrath in a terrifying display of force to protect her. His journey shows a man learning to live with purpose and contentment, finding new meaning in a life that was once defined only by violence.

In terms of notable abilities, Kirishima is an exceptionally formidable combatant. His reputation as a demon and his effectiveness as an enforcer indicate he possesses immense physical strength, endurance, and proficiency in hand-to-hand combat. He is shown to be capable of easily defeating multiple opponents and his fighting style is described as ruthless and overwhelming. Beyond his physical prowess, his ability to adapt and learn patience and empathy in his role as a babysitter becomes a different kind of strength, demonstrating a capacity for growth and emotional connection he did not know he had.
