Description
Gigaboss, known in the original Japanese version as Gallagher, is the primary antagonist of the anime Zoids Wild and the formidable leader of the Dark Metal Empire. His background reveals that he was not always the fearsome ruler known by this title; his original name was Marcellus, which he later changed to signify his rise to power. He and the character Quade share a deep history, having been contemporaries who trained together under the same master in their youth. While both became powerful Zoid seekers, their philosophies diverged drastically. Gigaboss became obsessed with obtaining dominating power, a pursuit that set him on a path opposite to Quade, who was content with the simpler aspects of life. This fundamental difference in belief ultimately turned the two former friends into bitter enemies.

As a personality, Gigaboss is a study in contradictions. He is primarily depicted as an eccentric but utterly ruthless overlord who shows little regard for the well-being of his subordinates. He rules over the Four Dark Warriors and a vast army with an iron fist, driven by a cruel ambition. However, his character is not purely tyrannical; he is also prone to moments of bizarre behavior, such as demanding his fearsome warriors attend parties or engage in menial games and personal errands, even while they are on important missions like capturing the Wild Liger. This unpredictable nature adds a layer of eccentricity to his role as a villain.

Gigaboss's primary motivation is a relentless quest for greater power. This drive stems from his history with Quade, who was once the superior warrior. Unable to accept this, Gigaboss sought ever more powerful Zoids to pilot. His ultimate goal is to locate and revive the legendary Zoid known as Demise, also called the Ancient Treasure Z, a creature that grows stronger by devouring other Zoids. To achieve this, he established the Dark Metal Empire and commissioned the creation of copies of a Hacker Key, which he needed to tame the ancient monster. His role in the story is to serve as the central obstacle for the protagonist, Arashi, and his team, as he seeks to use the power of Demise for global conquest.

His key relationships are central to the plot. His dynamic with Quade is the most significant, as their shared past and opposing worldviews lead to a climactic confrontation, ultimately resulting in Quade's death at Gigaboss's hands. Among his subordinates, his relationship with Drake, one of the Four Heavenly Kings, is notable; Gigaboss frequently undermines Drake's efforts to capture the Liger by issuing conflicting orders for trivial tasks, demonstrating his controlling and disrespectful nature. Throughout the series, Gigaboss undergoes a clear but tragic development. His lifelong pursuit of absolute power culminates in success when he finally revives and tames the fearsome Zoid Demise. However, this victory is short-lived, as his own ambition leads directly to his downfall. In the final battle, Demise is knocked back into the volcano from which it was excavated, and Gigaboss perishes alongside it, orchestrating his own demise in his moment of triumph.

In terms of abilities, Gigaboss is undoubtedly one of the most powerful warriors in the series. He is a highly skilled Zoid pilot, capable of besting the protagonist's Liger while piloting a Gilraptor, and he does so without even needing to use a powerful technique known as a Dark Blast. His primary personal Zoid is the fearsome Death Rex, a machine that matches his own thirst for destructive power. Together, they represent the ultimate threat that forces the heroes to push their own abilities to the limit.
