Description
Kureha Crylet is introduced as a former knight of the Jioral Kingdom, a woman of renowned skill who carries the titles Blade Goddess and Sword Saint. She is a descendant of the ancient hero Souji and later becomes the new Sword Hero after successfully overcoming the trial of the sword. Physically she is noted for a striking natural beauty: silver hair, blue eyes, and a body untouched by battle scars despite countless fights. Her initial appearance shows her missing an arm lost in a hard-fought battle, and she seeks out Keyaru, the Healing Hero, to restore the limb. The successful healing leaves her genuinely grateful and she makes a promise to return the favor someday.

Kureha possesses a deeply rooted sense of honor and justice that sets her apart from many others in the Jioral Kingdom. She condemns wrongdoing and will put her own safety at risk for the sake of others. She abhors the idea of using her family's Clyret swordsmanship for evil, which drives her to confront Keyaru when she learns he has killed kingdom soldiers with that style, believing innocents were being threatened. She is also firmly opposed to the enslavement or mistreatment of demi-humans, as shown when she mistakes Setsuna for a forced slave and tries to intervene. Despite being raised in a wealthy environment, she carries herself with dignity and treats commoners with respect, and she takes considerable pride in maintaining her outward appearance and composure.

Her motivations shift dramatically as she learns the truth. Initially she acts out of knightly duty and personal honor. However, after Keyaru reveals his identity and Princess Flare, now known as Freia, confirms the Jioral Kingdom's atrocities, Kureha is forced to reckon with the fact that she was a pawn in a corrupt system. This awakening shatters her old loyalties and leads her to pledge her services to Keyaru's party, driven by a combination of gratitude for her healed arm, a desire to right wrongs, and a growing personal attachment to the group. She later undertakes investigations on Keyaru's behalf, such as probing what became of his home village of Alban, and questions how the kingdom could commit such acts under the guise of protecting humanity.

Within the story, Kureha evolves from a solitary, honorable knight into a devoted companion and one of the most powerful individuals in the world. Her relationship with Keyaru is central: after the confrontation in Lanaritta, she is initially hesitant but eventually becomes convinced of the truth and, following a night that marks her first intimate experience, she forms a close bond with him. She works alongside the other party members, including Freia and Setsuna, displaying impeccable teamwork in high-level battles. Her development includes passing the grueling sword trial, which selects only one true Sword Hero at a time and would kill the unworthy, and subsequently breaking her level cap. By the later novels her level is said to far exceed 200, placing her among the top three beings to have ever existed in any timeline of the series, alongside Flare and Keyaru.

Kureha's abilities center on an innate gift called Divine Sword, a rare skill that grants her preternatural swordsmanship and earned her the title Blade Goddess. Even when under the effects of an aphrodisiac, she can still sever an enemy's limb almost instantly. Her All-Seeing technique, also called Abandonment, lets her perceive everything within the range of her sword with absolute precision, negating surprise attacks. Presence Detection allows her to sense all movements and presences nearby and react with superhuman reflexes. As a Hero, she gains a Level Cap Break, enabling unlimited leveling, and an Increased EXP Gain that stacks multiplicatively with other heroes in the party. Beyond system skills, she is considered the epitome of sword mastery: her dexterity allows her to defeat multiple opponents before they realize she has moved, and even Keyaru admits his combined techniques do not approach her skill. Her indomitable will was proven by surviving the fatal sword trial, and her immense stamina lets her sustain prolonged, flawlessly precise combat. These qualities make her a swordswoman without peer and a cornerstone of the party's strength.
