TV-Series
Description
The Great Elder, known as Daichourou in the original context, is the venerable leader of the Nature Civilization in Duel Masters King. His physical form is that of a large, anthropomorphic tree, characterized by a long nose, perpetually closed eyes, and a full, green beard. In this series, he typically wears a loose yellow shirt adorned with blue floral patterns paired with pink shorts, and his limbs are short and stubby, resembling wooden branches.

The Great Elder’s personality is marked by a profound sense of ennui and a mischievous, self-serving nature. Despite his status as an ancient and powerful leader, he is not deeply committed to his role's responsibilities. His primary motivation throughout the events of Duel Masters King is the alleviation of his own boredom. This singular drive leads him to take actions that are antagonistic and deceitful, showing a willingness to betray his own kind for the sake of entertainment.

In the story, the Great Elder plays the role of an antagonist. He defects from his expected position to join the Onifuda Overlord Coalition, a decision he makes simply because he finds his existing circumstances uninteresting. His deceptive streak is further demonstrated when he fabricates his points in a tournament held by Abaku Onifuda, which leads the protagonist, Joe Kirifuda, to mistakenly identify him as a point thief. The Elder’s capabilities as a duelist are formidable; he engages in a duel with the character Bolts and emerges victorious.

A significant part of his role involves creating conflict for the main characters. In a notable scheme, he kidnaps the character Uraraka Momo and dresses as a Demon King, placing her within a castle. He lures Joe and Kira by having them operate a ramen shop, only to reveal his true identity and show a fabricated video of Momo in danger. This act of psychological manipulation is designed to provoke Joe into a duel, further cementing the Elder’s role as a troublesome and powerful adversary.

Regarding his development, the Great Elder does not undergo a heroic redemption or a significant change of heart. His actions remain consistently driven by his personal desire for stimulation, having previously been a source of great power in the Gacharange Series. In that earlier period, he was the origin of all multicolored energy and could grant the power of Rainbow to others. At that time, he had become withered after expending his energy to create a being named Jogirasta the Johnny, requiring intervention to be restored. In Duel Masters King, however, this past role is overshadowed by his current, more whimsical and antagonistic behavior.

His key relationships are primarily antagonistic. He has a direct conflict with Joe Kirifuda, whom he tricks and enrages. He also has a connection to Abaku Onifuda, having sided with his coalition. The Great Elder’s notable abilities are tied to his nature as a former source of immense power; he is capable of dueling at a high level, as shown by his defeat of Bolts, and his very essence once served as a wellspring for multicolored energy, highlighting the significant power he wields even when acting out of boredom.
