Description
Jircniv Rune Farlord El-Nix is the reigning emperor of the Baharuth Empire, a powerful human nation in the New World. He is a young man, noted for his striking appearance with blonde hair that shines like starlight and clear amethyst-purple eyes. He carries himself with the natural aura of a sovereign, dressed in regal attire and wielding the Imperial Scepter as his staff of office. For protection, he possesses magical items such as a Medallion of Mental Protection to guard against mind control and a Ring of Unicorn to detect poisons and bolster his resilience.

Often referred to by the feared epithet the Bloody Emperor, Jircniv earned this name through the violent methods he employed to secure and consolidate his power. After his mother was accused of assassinating the previous emperor, he was forced to eliminate his own relatives and rivals to claim the throne. At the tender age of twelve, he ordered a bloody purge of the opposing nobility, cementing his absolute rule. Despite this ruthless and bloodstained path to power, his reign has been extraordinarily effective. He is widely considered the greatest emperor in the nation’s history, having strengthened the empire through shrewd politics, military might, and sweeping reforms that replaced incompetent aristocrats with capable commoners based on merit.

In terms of personality, Jircniv is extremely charismatic and highly intelligent, possessing a refined education in both academics and courtly arts. He meticulously cultivates a persona of unflappable confidence, believing that people will only follow a strong leader. He is a master of control, managing his body language and expressions to never reveal even a hint of weakness, always presenting a friendly and polite demeanor to disarm opponents and extract information. While he is ruthless about protecting his authority, he is not driven by personal power for its own sake. Instead, his ambition is pragmatic and focused on the long-term prosperity of his empire, aiming to create a nation that would stand the test of time. He avoids gratuitous cruelty, as seen when he returned a group of noblewomen he had gathered as a potential peace offering after realizing they were unnecessary.

His role in the story is primarily defined by his interactions with Ainz Ooal Gown. Initially, upon learning of Ainz’s existence, Jircniv sought to turn the powerful magic caster into a pawn for the empire. He manipulated a disgraced noble into hiring a group of Workers to explore the mysterious Great Tomb of Nazarick, intending to gauge Ainz’s strength and damage his relationship with the rival Re-Estize Kingdom. This plan backfired catastrophically. After the Workers were annihilated, emissaries from Nazarick appeared at his palace, burying his knights alive and demanding an apology. Forced to lead a delegation to Nazarick, Jircniv was awed and terrified by the immense power, resources, and perceived intellect of Ainz, leading him to hastily propose an alliance to protect his nation.

The pinnacle of his terror came during the annual war on the Katze Plains, where he witnessed Ainz cast a super-tier spell that instantly annihilated 180,000 enemy soldiers. This overwhelming display of power traumatized him, causing immense stress that led to stomach pains, hair loss, and paranoia. Desperate, he secretly attempted to forge a grand coalition of other nations, including the Slane Theocracy, to oppose Nazarick. However, Ainz’s unexpected and coincidental appearance at the clandestine meeting site ruined the talks. With no allies remaining and seeing no path to victory, Jircniv made the decision to immediately submit. He petitioned Ainz to make the Baharuth Empire a vassal state of the Sorcerer Kingdom, a request that was accepted.

One of his key relationships is with his former teacher, the legendary magic caster Fluder Paradyne, whom he suspects of betraying him to Nazarick. He is served by the Four Imperial Knights, elite warriors selected for their skill. In his private life, his favored concubine is a plain-looking but highly intelligent woman with whom he can discuss politics, valuing her mind far above the beauty or status of others. Following the vassalization, he develops an unexpected and genuine friendship with Pe Riyuro, the leader of the Quagoa, who is in the exact same position of being subjugated by Ainz. This friendship causes Jircniv to reconsider his stance on non-humans.

Throughout the series, Jircniv undergoes a significant development from a proud, ambitious, and cunning emperor to a shattered and paranoid leader, and finally to a relieved and surprisingly content vassal ruler. The crushing stress of trying to outmaneuver an enemy of incomprehensible power evaporates once he surrenders his nation’s autonomy. He finds that his workload is lighter, his stress-induced ailments vanish, and his position is more secure than ever under the protection of the Sorcerer Kingdom.

As a leader, his notable abilities are not tied to personal combat prowess but to his exceptional skills in governance and strategy. He is a brilliant administrator and political mind, capable of complex long-term planning and manipulating those around him. His greatest asset is his leadership and charisma, which have united his nation and inspired loyalty. He also possesses a strong will, demonstrated when he resisted a magical compulsion to bow, although this was later attributed partly to his protective amulet.
