Description
Miwa Honjo is a supporting character in the anime Tokyo Mew Mew New. She is a high school girl and one of the closest friends of the protagonist, Ichigo Momomiya, alongside Moe Yanagida. The three are often referred to as the "Three Idiots Trio" due to their lively and somewhat silly antics together. Miwa has a bright and optimistic personality, described as lively and ambitious. She has a positive outlook on life and is generally cheerful and supportive of her friends. In the 2022 anime, she expresses a desire to become an author, showing a creative and goal-oriented side. Physically, Miwa has large blue-grey eyes and a short brown pixie cut hairstyle. She is light-skinned and roughly the same height as Ichigo.

Her role in the story is primarily as a normal human classmate and friend; she never learns that Ichigo is a Mew Mew or about the magical girl battles taking place around her. She appears regularly alongside Ichigo and Moe in school and social settings, providing a sense of everyday life and normalcy. Miwa is a strong supporter of Ichigo's romantic interest in Masaya Aoyama, often cheering her on.

A key relationship development occurs when Keiichiro Akasaka, the baker at Café Mew Mew, helps Miwa pay for a box of tea. This act causes her to develop a crush on him. In a later episode, Miwa and Moe both prepare handmade gifts for their crushes—Miwa for Keiichiro and Moe for Ryou Shirogane. Initially, the gifts are rejected, leaving both girls upset. This emotional state is exploited by the antagonist Kish, who steals their spirits to create two Chimera Lovebirds. After Ichigo defeats the monsters, Keiichiro and Ryou reveal that they actually appreciated the gifts, which lifts Miwa’s and Moe’s spirits. Following this, Miwa and Moe decide to start a fan club for the two young men.

Miwa does not possess any supernatural abilities or powers. Her value to the narrative comes from her role as a supportive and relatable friend, highlighting the ordinary life that Ichigo tries to balance with her heroic duties. Her character shows development through her romantic subplot and her unwavering friendship, though she remains unaware of the larger conflict. Overall, Miwa Honjo serves as a cheerful and loyal companion who adds a touch of normalcy and lightheartedness to the series.
