TV-Series
Description
Ehre is a second-class mage who participates in the First-Class Mage Exam in the city of Äußerst. She is placed in the eighth party for the exam’s first stage, alongside the mages Wirbel and Scharf. Before the events of the exam, her village in the north was attacked by demons, an incident where Wirbel was among the humans who fought them off. She is a graduate who finished at the top of her class from the Academy of Magic. Her name is German for honor or pride, which reflects aspects of her character.

In terms of personality, Ehre typically projects a cool, calm, and collected demeanor, remaining relatively emotionless and speaking in an even cadence. In combat, she is analytical, calmly assessing her opponents and executing precise attacks and dodges. However, this composed facade is known to crack quickly when she is confronted with unexpected attacks or situations she does not know how to handle. When her mana is depleted, she exhibits a more petulant and childish side, as seen when she became annoyed with Wirbel for floating her and demanded a piggy-back ride instead. Despite her sometimes cool exterior, she is friendly and kind towards her party members, socializing with them outside of the exam and offering gestures of kindness, such as offering to introduce her grandfather to Wirbel to help him avoid a seasick sea voyage.

Ehre’s primary motivation in the story is to pass the rigorous First-Class Mage Exam, a goal shared by many of the series’ most talented mages. Her background as a top academic performer suggests a drive for achievement and validation of her skills. However, her journey also reveals a deeper, more personal connection to Wirbel, as she has not forgotten that he saved her village when she was younger, indicating a sense of gratitude and loyalty.

Her role in the story is primarily as a supporting character and a rival within the First-Class Mage Exam arc. She acts as a direct opponent to the protagonist Fern during the first stage of the test. Her battle with Fern serves as a key moment to highlight Fern’s unique strengths, which come from practical training rather than formal education. She also serves to provide insight into Wirbel’s past and character through their conversations.

Key relationships define much of her story. Her relationship with Wirbel is central; he is her respected party leader and a childhood hero who saved her village. She respects his experience, describing his magic as vulgar and cowardly but extremely effective, and she is loyal to him throughout the exam. Her relationship with Fern is that of a rival. Ehre acknowledges Fern’s strength, remarking that she fights like a seasoned mage, and Fern in turn considers Ehre to be the strongest mage in their two parties. Her family connection is also significant, as she mentions having a grandfather who is a first-class mage; strong implications suggest this grandfather is Lernen, a powerful mage and disciple of the legendary mage Serie.

Throughout the exam arc, Ehre undergoes notable development. She begins as a supremely confident and highly educated mage who prides herself on her technical skill. Her defeat at the hands of Fern, who overwhelmed her with a seemingly simple but relentless barrage of basic offensive magic, is a humbling experience. After being knocked unconscious and running out of mana, she is forced to rely on Wirbel for help, which she initially resists before accepting a piggy-back ride. This experience reveals a more vulnerable side and highlights the difference between her academic knowledge and the raw, practical combat experience that Fern possesses. Although she successfully passes the first two stages of the exam, she ultimately fails the final stage, which is an interview with Serie. Serie determines that Ehre does not possess the qualities she looks for in a first-class mage. After the exam, she is seen introducing Wirbel and Scharf to her grandfather, Lernen, before they depart together.

Her notable abilities include her signature magic, Rock Pellet Conversion Magic, which is called Dorgatte or Dragate. This spell allows her to use flight magic to levitate herself and then levitate several small rocks or stones around her, which she then shoots towards her opponent with the force of a cannon. She is also proficient in basic defensive magic, capable of creating barriers to block enemy spells. However, a key weakness is her lack of real battle experience, which becomes evident when she is overwhelmed by Fern’s unorthodox and relentless attack style. Her raw magical power, however, is considerable, as both Fern and Wirbel acknowledge that by sheer force, she may be stronger than either of them.
