Description
In the second part of the Tower of God series, titled The Return of the Prince, the protagonist formerly known as Twenty-Fifth Baam adopts the alias Jyu Viole Grace. This period takes place approximately six years after the events of the first part, during which Baam was presumed dead by his former companions. His background is deeply rooted in mystery; he spent an isolated childhood in a dark cave with only one friend, Rachel, who taught him about the outside world before entering the Tower. Baam himself is an Irregular, meaning he opened the Tower's doors on his own, a feat that sets him apart from Regulars who are invited inside.

The personality of Baam undergoes a dramatic transformation in this arc. In the first part, he was a naive, caring, and empathetic boy who climbed the Tower solely to be with Rachel. However, after being forced into the criminal organization FUG and enduring Rachel's betrayal at the end of Part 1, he emerges as Jyu Viole Grace. As Viole, he is far more violent, cold, and calculating. He speaks rarely, displays little emotion, and understands that to survive and climb the Tower, he must be willing to engage in combat and eliminate opposition. This distant demeanor is largely a protective mechanism; he isolates himself to avoid being hurt again and to prevent his dangerous new enemies from targeting anyone he cares about. Despite this hardened exterior, he retains a core of deep empathy, often feeling guilt and depression over the violent actions he is forced to commit, though he rationalizes that not everyone in the Tower can be happy.

Viole's primary motivation is a complex web of survival and coercion. While he still seeks answers regarding Rachel's betrayal, his immediate role in the story is defined by his status as a Slayer Candidate for FUG, a group dedicated to the destruction of King Zahard and the current ruling order. He is not a willing participant; FUG blackmailed him into this role by threatening to kill his former friends from the first part of the series. As a result, he is forced to take dangerous tests on the 20th Floor and beyond, often acting as a solitary and formidable force. His role in the narrative is initially shrouded in mystery, as the story begins by following a new character, Ja Wangnan, who eventually crosses paths with the enigmatic and powerful Viole.

Key relationships are central to Baam's development during this period. His bond with Rachel remains a source of confusion and pain, as he continues to climb in hopes of confronting her. He is forced to work under the harsh tutelage of Ha Jinsung, a high-ranking FUG member who trains him in combat and becomes a proud, if manipulative, mentor. Hwa Ryun, a Guide for FUG, also becomes a close and constant companion. Most significantly, he forms a new team, Team Tangsooyook, which includes Ja Wangnan, Yeon Yihwa, Kang Horyang, and others. Though he initially tries to keep them at a distance, claiming to be their enemy, he gradually warms to them, protecting them in life-threatening situations and revealing his inherent kindness, which complicates his role as a cold-hearted agent of FUG.

The development of Baam into Viole is the central arc of his character. He evolves from a boy who followed Rachel into the Tower to a young man forced to carry immense power and a terrible burden. This period showcases his internal conflict between the gentle person he was and the ruthless killer FUG wants him to become. His character arc involves slowly rediscovering his own will, as his actions are initially dictated by the need to protect his old friends, but his interactions with his new teammates reawaken his desire for genuine companionship and self-determination. His development is marked by moments where his childish wonder and innate empathy break through his cold facade, such as when he marvels at the ocean or risks his life to protect the weaker members of his team.

Regarding notable abilities, this period reveals that Baam possesses an extraordinary and unnatural talent for manipulating shinsoo, the energy within the Tower. He is designated as a Wave Controller, a position focused on shinsoo manipulation, and quickly demonstrates skills that surpass even veteran examiners. Even as a Regular, he was able to walk through a shinsoo barrier that pushed back nearly all others. Under FUG's training, his power grows significantly. He is able to use advanced techniques, such as the reverse-flow control, and begins to show potential that marks him as a true threat to the Tower's established powers. Furthermore, as Jyu Viole Grace, he is being prepared to wield a powerful and ancient weapon known as the Thorn, which is prophesied to be capable of killing the King of the Tower.
