Description
Kim Lurker is a supporting antagonist in the anime Tower of God: Return of the Prince, which adapts the second part of the Tower of God story. He works as a debt collector on the 20th floor, where Regulars must pass difficult and expensive tests to advance. Lurker is closely tied to the company Lurker Cash, whose president is the father of the Regular named Prince. Lurker’s role in the story is to act as an obstacle for the protagonist Ja Wangnan, who owes him a large debt. He uses this debt to pressure Wangnan and other Regulars, often resorting to threats and violence. During the “Trustworthy Room” test, Lurker manipulates the rules to gain control over multiple rooms, using a special water bottle that allows him to manipulate Shinsu and strengthen his position. He is ruthless and pragmatic, willing to kill without hesitation, as demonstrated when he murders Nia, a friendly young man who had been cooperating with him under duress. Lurker’s primary motivation appears to be financial gain and maintaining power over others, showing little regard for fairness or human life. His key relationships include Wangnan, who confronts him directly, and Prince, whose father’s company employs Lurker. Nia’s death serves as a turning point, prompting Wangnan to stand up to Lurker and reject the cycle of injustice. In terms of development, Lurker remains an unrepentant antagonist, and his defeat comes when Wangnan manages to take away his water bottle, nullifying his Shinsu control. His notable ability is his use of that bottle to regulate Shinsu, giving him an edge in the test environment. Overall, he represents the corrupt, exploitative systems that Regulars must overcome on their climb.
