Description
Kazuto Tonooka is a B-rank Sniper and a member of Yuba Squad in the Border defense organization.
He is a young man of average height with styled, light blond hair. He wears the standard Yuba Squad uniform, which consists of a white jacket with the collar turned up over a black shirt, with his grey pants tucked into high black boots. Tonooka used to commute to Border during middle school, but starting in high school, he lives alone in a room at the headquarters base. He was once considered plain-looking until a teammate, Nono Fujimaru, gave him a flashier punk hairstyle.
Tonooka possesses a mellow personality and is somewhat of a loner, yet he has good communication skills. He is known as a good listener and is regarded by others as a valuable conversationalist, particularly among the other boarders at Headquarters. He appreciates having time to himself. His tastes include kashiwa tempura and roasted green tea.
As a combatant, Tonooka is a Sniper specialized in stealth operations. He has climbed to the third rank in the Stealth and Target Acquisition Drill, demonstrating his proficiency in tracking targets unseen. His preferred strategy is to stalk a target until he is in the ideal position to make his first shot count, often operating on his own rather than in close collaboration with his teammates. His skills in stealth and tracking also make him useful for espionage missions.
Tonooka is a patient and meticulous fighter, taking various factors into account, such as a target’s vulnerability and reaction time, before opening fire. He boasts above-average marksmanship; for instance, he was able to hit the small portion of Chika Amatori's Meteor cube that was not obscured by a water tank before she could fire it, which also testifies to the speed with which he can acquire a target and take aim.
His primary Trigger is the Egret sniper rifle, which he appears to favor and is considerably proficient with. He is often seen maintaining his Egret conjured even before reaching a sniping position, presumably to be able to shoot as soon as an opportunity presents itself. He also uses the Bagworm Trigger, an optional piece of equipment that conceals his position from enemy radar, which is a fundamental asset for any Sniper.
Throughout the B-Rank Wars, Yuba Squad participates in multiple rank battles, facing off against other squads like Azuma Squad, Katori Squad, Oji Squad, Ikoma Squad, and Nasu Squad. The squad’s ranking fluctuates over the course of these matches, with Tonooka and his teammates eventually being overtaken in rank by other teams.
