Description
Masato Sendô is a young boy from modern Japan who is transported to another world against his will. He is the second son of the Sendô family, making him the younger brother of Takahisa Sendô and the step-brother of Haruto Amakawa and Aki Sendô after their parents remarried. Because mentioning Haruto’s name was considered taboo in the household, Masato grew up unaware that Haruto was actually his older step-brother. On the first day of his sixth year of elementary school, he was inadvertently caught up in the hero summoning ritual that targeted his older brother Takahisa and Satsuki Sumeragi, dragging him, his step-sister Aki, and their mutual friend Miharu Ayase into a fantasy world.
Masato has a straightforward, honest, and passionate personality. He is an innocent and energetic boy with a deep love for fantasy, RPG games, and romanticized ideas of adventure and swordsmanship, which helps him adapt to the unfamiliar world much faster than his companions. Despite his youth, he can be surprisingly mature when handling difficult situations and often tries to act as a voice of reason, particularly in his frequent arguments with his stubborn step-sister Aki. He deeply values family and friendship, and while he initially relies on his older brother Takahisa’s strength, he soon becomes determined to stand on his own and grow independent.
His primary motivation stems from a desire to protect the people he cares about and to help his family reconcile their strained relationships. After being attacked by bandits shortly after arriving in the new world, he and Aki are rescued by Rio, who later reveals himself to be Haruto Amakawa, the step-brother Masato never knew. Rio takes them to the Spirit Village, where Masato eagerly asks to be trained in swordsmanship, spirit arts, and the local language. He later decides to accompany Aki and Miharu back to the Centostella Kingdom, spending many months trying to reason with and argue against his siblings in an effort to get them to reflect on their actions and emotional states.
Throughout the story, Masato undergoes noticeable growth. He moves from being a dependent younger sibling to a more self-reliant individual, forging new bonds and grappling with the complicated truths about his family. He eventually reunites with his brother Takahisa in the Centostella Kingdom, where Takahisa has become a summoned hero, and with Satsuki Sumeragi in the Galarc Kingdom. One of the most significant revelations in his development is discovering that Haruto and Rio are the same person, which reshapes his understanding of his family history. Over time, he becomes strong enough to awaken the powers of an Earth Hero, a status that places him among the few chosen individuals from his world.
In terms of abilities, Masato’s swordsmanship, which he learned directly from Rio, is noted to be superior to that of his older brother Takahisa, despite Takahisa’s status as a summoned hero. He also receives training in spirit arts and the language of the new world during his stay in the Spirit Village. His martial arts, though not as physically overwhelming as those of the more experienced heroes, are refined and practical. As an Earth Hero, he gains additional latent powers that further enhance his combat potential, and he channels these abilities toward his goal of protecting his loved ones and supporting his family through their struggles.
