Description
Sir Héctor is a retired knight entrusted by the wizard Merlin to raise the infant Arthur following King Uther Pendragon's demise. He provides sanctuary for the child, raising Arthur as his own son while carefully concealing the boy's royal heritage. This guardianship occurs far from Camelot, shielding Arthur from threats such as King Lavik.
When Arthur reaches fifteen, Sir Héctor brings him to a royal tournament. During the event, Arthur draws the sacred sword Excalibur from its stone, an act proving his divine right to rule Britain. Witnessing this compels Sir Héctor to publicly acknowledge Arthur as Uther Pendragon's true heir.
He struggles to relinquish his role as guardian, revealing a deep paternal attachment forged over years of raising the boy. Despite this reluctance, he demonstrates unwavering loyalty to Camelot's legacy by formally recognizing Arthur's kingship. Sir Héctor subsequently supports Arthur's claim against opposition, including forces loyal to Lavik.
Following Arthur's ascension to the throne, Sir Héctor withdraws from active involvement in the conflict. His core narrative function concludes after facilitating Arthur's transition from adoptive son to sovereign monarch.
