Description
Johaim Leo Armadel, also known as the Flash Knight, is a complex figure within the world of Our Last Crusade or the Rise of a New World, recognized as one of the most formidable warriors affiliated with the Heavenly Empire. He holds the prestigious position of the former first seat of the Saint Disciples, the empire's elite order of warriors, where he is regarded as the strongest among them.

His background is marked by contradiction and a deep-seated disillusionment. Johaim is not a natural citizen of the Heavenly Empire but originally hails from the Nebulis Sovereignty, a nation of Astral Mages. Within that society, which prides itself on being a paradise for its kind, Johaim experienced severe discrimination due to his own weak Astral Power. This deficiency left him powerless and impoverished, shunned and mocked by his peers and superiors, including the royal families he grew to resent. His attempts to join the Sovereignty's Astral Corps ended in mockery and rejection, despite having trained himself to physically overwhelm several gifted mages. This led him to the bitter conviction that hard work was meaningless in a society that valued only innate power.

It was this environment of rejection that forged his defining relationship and motivation. He met Elletear Lou Nebulis IX, the eldest princess of the Sovereignty's House of Lou, who shared his experience of being marginalized for her own lack of strength. Unlike others, Elletear acknowledged and respected Johaim for his abilities and character. In response, he swore an unshakeable oath of loyalty to her as his one true master. Together, they conspired to betray their homeland, concluding that both the Nebulis Sovereignty, with its false promise of a paradise for the strong, and the Heavenly Empire, with its discrimination against all Astral Mages, were fundamentally broken. Their shared goal became the destruction of both societies and the creation of a genuine new world for Astral Mages.

In service to this ambition, Johaim joined the Heavenly Empire and rose through the ranks of the Saint Disciples. His outward persona is that of a stoic and silent individual, speaking only when necessary and keeping his emotions hidden. He views others, including his fellow disciples, as temporary allies, potential enemies, or people of no interest, reserving his entire being for Elletear. This unwavering, almost zealous devotion drives his role in the central conflict. He is a key operative in the mission to capture Millavair Lou Nebulis VIII, the Queen of the Nebulis Sovereignty and Elletear's mother. During the Night of the Witch Hunt, Johaim personally confronted the Queen, dismissing her ideal of a peaceful paradise for Astral Mages as a deceptive dream and asserting that the world must be reborn. In a pre-arranged ruse to fake her death and extract her from the Sovereignty, he struck down Elletear, then escaped with her to the Empire.

Later, as Elletear completes her transformation into a powerful mutant witch, Johaim's loyalty remains absolute. He abandons the Saint Disciples and the Empire, siding wholly with his master as she turns against their former allies. His development is not a traditional arc of change but a deepening of his established nature: from a desperate, powerless outcast into a weapon of immense skill, fully realized in his purpose of world renewal alongside Elletear.

His notable abilities justify his title as the Flash Knight. He is a master swordsman, wielding a longsword with such insane speed and precision that it appears as a silver flash to his opponents. His prowess is such that the protagonist Iska, a former Saint Disciple and highly skilled swordsman, acknowledges Johaim as his superior. He operates at what seems like divine speeds, capable of neutralizing elite guards before they can even raise an alarm. Furthermore, his early life of powerlessness granted him an infallible ability to sense the path of attacks created by Astral Powers, allowing him to evade them with ease. He notably used his identity as a former Astral Mage to bypass magical commands set by Queen Millavair that targeted non-Astral enemies, proving that his most effective weapon is not just his sword, but the understanding born from his own history of persecution.
