Description
Jin Rohan is a student at the Rotsgard Academy who comes from a humble background, having earned his place at the institution through his own talent rather than family connections. He has short blue hair and gray eyes, and is shown wearing a school uniform that includes a cardigan and tie. At the time of his introduction, he is approximately seventeen years old.
In terms of personality, Jin is a hardworking and determined young man with a strong desire to grow stronger. He is described as being straightforward, proud, and pragmatic. Initially, he was unimpressed with Makoto Misumi's appearance as a teacher and assumed the new instructor was weak. However, after witnessing a demonstration of Makoto's true power, Jin's perspective changed completely, and he came to idolize Makoto as the first true master he had found at the academy. He is also a regretful person who carries guilt over a past mistake, demonstrating a sense of responsibility and a desire for personal atonement.
A formative event in Jin's past involves his childhood friendship with a girl originally named Miranda, who later became known as Sofia Bulga. As children, the pair were investigating old facilities in a forest when Miranda encountered a chimera mutation and defeated it with savage and bloodthirsty force. Terrified by what he witnessed, Jin called her a monster, which deeply affected her and caused her to leave their village shortly afterward. Filled with regret for his words, Jin resolved to become strong enough to find her again and apologize.
Jin's primary motivation is to grow stronger and pursue a career as a magic researcher. After graduating from the academy, his goal is to work at the Kuzunoha Company, believing that working there would allow him to see and experience things that cannot be found anywhere else. He has rejected recruitment offers from both the kingdom and the empire in favor of this goal. Under Makoto and Shiki's tutelage, Jin's abilities have grown tremendously. His fighting style favors close-quarters combat using dual-wielded swords. He has developed unique combat skills, including an instant enhancement technique where body enhancement is applied precisely at the moment an attack connects to increase attack power rather than providing generalized physical reinforcement. He can also perform a technique called Sakai imitation, which allows him to affect his surroundings and create various effects with minimal magic power expenditure, including the ability to adjust gravity and its range of influence.
In a student tournament, Jin easily won the warriors bracket final against the son of the Hopelace family, though he ultimately lost the grand final to another student named Sif. Shiki, who serves as one of his teachers, sees significant talent in Jin and desires for him to become a researcher at the Kuzunoha Company, believing Jin has the potential to become one of the best first-class researchers. Jin eventually succeeded in becoming a part-time employee of the Kuzunoha Company while continuing to attend classes.
