Description
Isamu Kondo serves as the commander of the Shinsengumi, the special police force tasked with maintaining order in Kyoto during the Bakumatsu period. Hailing from Edo, his background is that of a commoner who rose to a position of leadership through ambition and skill, driven by a deep-seated dream of achieving the status of a true samurai, a dream he shares with his closest friend from youth, Toshizo Hijikata. Kondo's personality is defined by a striking combination of warmth, kindness, and an almost naive trust in the inherent goodness of others, a trait that often leads Hijikata to warn him about being too optimistic.
