Description
Majikajya, also sometimes referred to as simply Kajya, is a narehate residing in the village of Ilblu on the sixth layer of the Abyss. As a narehate, Majikajya is one of the many beings who once challenged the Abyss but lost their way, ultimately finding a new form and existence within the village's boundaries. In exchange for the form they desired and the village's protection, narehate like Majikajya are forever bound to Ilblu and cannot leave.

The character's appearance is notably artificial, as though constructed from a variety of different objects and materials. This is consistent with the principle of Ilblu, where a narehate's body reflects their deepest desires. In Majikajya's case, it is believed they built their own container body through trading and bartering. Central to this form is a stitched-up sack made of fabric cuttings, which contains their true essence. Majikajya explains that their real body is formed from smells, gasses, and fluids, and the visible form is merely a container that allows them to interact and speak.

Majikajya is depicted as being friendly, helpful, and genuinely curious about newcomers. They are the first resident to greet Riko, Reg, and Nanachi upon their arrival in Ilblu, and they take on the role of a guide to help the delvers understand the village's complex rules and value-based economy. True to the village's core principle of equivalent exchange, Majikajya respects the concept that stealing value is the gravest sin. They display a pragmatic concern for the protagonists, such as physically preventing Riko from making a hasty and dangerous deal with the sage Belaf that would have cost her vital body parts. Their personality is also flavored by their sensory nature, as they frequently reference scent, calling Nanachi good smelling, noting changes in Riko's scent, and constantly sniffing the character Vueko.

In the narrative, Majikajya serves as a crucial intermediary between the protagonists and the insular society of Ilblu. Their actions inadvertently set the story in motion when they take Prushka's Life Reverberating Stone to a jeweler, believing it needs to be refined to achieve its true quality as a White Whistle. Throughout the Ilblu arc, Majikajya explains fundamental village concepts, such as the terrifying process of the balancing, which enforces fair trade by punishing those who damage another's value. They also reveal key information to Nanachi, disclosing that the sage Belaf possesses a copy of the supposedly deceased Mitty. During the conflict with the Fuzosheppu, Majikajya assists Riko by allowing her to ride on their Speed Form to execute her plan, demonstrating a willingness to aid in the village's defense.

Key relationships for Majikajya are primarily formed with the protagonist group. They show a particular interest in Nanachi, likely due to their unique origin as a narehate created at a different ritual site. Majikajya also has knowledge of the village's inner workings and its most significant figures. They are the one who describes the legendary Faputa to the group, calling her the Princess of the Narehate and the embodiment of value.

Majikajya possesses several notable abilities that reflect their unique nature. They are multilingual, capable of understanding and communicating in human speech as well as the narehate language, although they occasionally forget words or use third-person references. Their most distinctive ability is having an exchangeable container. Because their true form is an incorporeal scent, Majikajya can change the physical container they use as a body, which allows them to adapt to different situations, such as transforming into a Speed Form when necessary.
