Maa, also spelled Maaa, is a character who appears in the second season of the anime Made in Abyss, subtitled The Golden City of the Scorching Sun, which adapts the story arc set in the village of Ilblu on the sixth layer of the Abyss. She is a small, artificial being created by the village itself, not a true narehate born from a human. Her name comes from the only syllable she can utter, given to her by the protagonist Riko.
Maa has a distinctive and ghostlike appearance. Her body is round and covered in pink fur, with fabric-like folds at the bottom that she uses to move.
