Description
Akihito Sugiyama is a human character who first appears in the later episodes of the original Mewkledreamy anime before becoming a main character and antagonist in its second season, Mewkledreamy Mix!. He is a prodigy with an exceptionally high IQ of 250. Demonstrating advanced intellect from a very young age, he had mastered high school level mathematics by the age of five and created a computer program in kindergarten that received worldwide recognition. Due to these abilities, he was scouted by an American university and participated in a top-secret research project there while still a child.

Akihito is the younger brother of Haruhito Sugiyama, and his advanced intellect has been a source of complex feelings for his older sibling. In terms of appearance, he is a fair-skinned boy with brownish-black hair, purple eyes, and a wardrobe that often features detailed jackets, shirts, and trousers. Despite his genius-level intelligence, his personality is described as more bright and lively compared to his mature older brother. At the start of Mewkledreamy Mix!, he is twelve years old and enrolls as a first-year student at Ichigo Junior High School, the same school as the protagonist Yume Hinata. He joins the computer club and quickly becomes its new president.

Akihito's primary motivation in Mix! is his belief that humanity should live in a virtual world. He is approached by the antagonist Akumu, who asks for his help in spreading nightmares, and agrees to become her ally because he believes her goal will help make his dream of a virtual reality a reality. As part of this alliance, he becomes the new partner of the dream creature Yuni, who was previously partnered with his brother Haruhito. He also works alongside two other plush kitten characters, Tsugi and Hagi.

During the events of Mix!, Akihito develops a romantic interest in Yume Hinata, who is his senior at school. His role as an antagonist is challenged when he witnesses the suffering Yume endures because of Akumu's actions. This experience leads him to realize that Akumu's true ambition is not what he wants, and he tries to persuade her to stop spreading nightmares, which results in the end of their partnership.
