Description
Nijika Ijichi is a second-year student at Shimokitazawa High School and the drummer of Kessoku Band. She is the cheerful and responsible organizer of the band, often acting as its leader, accountant, and emotional anchor. Nijika has a bright, energetic personality that easily lifts the spirits of those around her, and she is deeply committed to maintaining the unity of the group. She is particularly gentle and nurturing toward the guitarist Hitori Gotou, recognizing her small steps of progress and offering subtle, constant support without judgment.
Her motivations are closely tied to her older sister, Seika, who runs the live house STARRY. When Nijika was young, their mother passed away, causing Nijika to become withdrawn and stop attending school. Seika returned home, fixed Nijika’s hair in place of their mother, and took her to see a live performance. That experience sparked Nijika’s interest in bands, and she began learning the drums. After Nijika decided to form her own band, Seika retired from her musical career and opened a live house to quietly support her. Nijika’s dream is to make STARRY a huge success, carrying on her sister’s aspirations as well.
In the story, Nijika serves as the driving force that brought the band members together. She encountered Hitori in a park and invited her to join, later discovering that Hitori was the online sensation Guitar Hero. Her longstanding friendship with the bassist Ryo Yamada dates back to before the band’s formation; after Ryo left her previous group, Nijika invited her to form Kessoku Band. The two understand each other well, and Ryo has left many of her belongings in Nijika’s room. Nijika also bonds closely with the vocalist and guitarist Ikuyo Kita, as the two extroverts in the group often share lively conversations.
Nijika’s growth is shown through her increasing ability to handle band management, practice sessions, and interpersonal dynamics. She consistently encourages Hitori to step out of her comfort zone, which strengthens the group’s cohesion. As a drummer, Nijika possesses strong rhythm, timing, and stage presence, providing the backbone of the band’s sound. Her sense of responsibility and proactive nature make her the pillar that holds Kessoku Band together, both musically and emotionally.
