Description
Manabe is a supporting character in the anime Ajin. He is a middle-aged mercenary with short black hair, which appears brown in the anime adaptation, and a small but noticeable mustache. After a confrontation at the forge security building, he sustains several scars on his face that remain visible for the rest of the story. He is hired by Yū Tosaki to assist in capturing the antagonist Sato, and his role is that of a skilled operative and strategist. Manabe has a background as a former soldier, which gives him practical combat experience and tactical knowledge. He is calm, composed, and highly rational, often analyzing situations quickly and devising plans. Despite his professional demeanor, he can become impatient and frustrated when things do not go as expected. A lingering sense of guilt and responsibility from his past drives him to help others, and he possesses a strong sense of duty that motivates his actions throughout the series. His key relationship is with Tosaki, for whom he works as a reliable mercenary. Over the course of the story, Manabe's development is subtle but significant; he becomes more personally invested in the fight against Sato, showing a willingness to endure physical harm and continue pursuing his objectives. His notable abilities include expert marksmanship, hand-to-hand combat, strategic planning, and the capacity to remain level-headed under extreme pressure.
