Description
Dan Celeste, born Danpei Ichigeki, is the son of the vanished dodgeball legend Daijurō Ichigeki. After his father's unexplained disappearance, young Danpei made a shocking discovery: his father's supposed grave held only a dodgeball marked with a flame instead of remains. This drove him to dedicate himself to dodgeball from first grade, joining the Tierra Nueva elementary school team. His athletic lineage includes a mother who works as a swimming instructor, ensuring a sports-focused upbringing.

Naturally energetic, impulsive, and carefree, Danpei often displays a childlike enthusiasm. Yet he possesses raw natural talent for dodgeball, allowing him to challenge older, seasoned players. He develops unique techniques, most notably his powerful signature move, the "tiro de fuego" (fire shot), which demands immense energy. Remarkably, during intense focus or emotional moments, he communicates with his missing father through the flame-marked ball.

His closest bonds are with Chino (born Chinnen Kobotoke), a monk apprentice and best friend renowned for dodging and catching skills, and Ángela (born Misato Tōdō), a mature classmate who serves as the team's strategic backbone and occasional player. His primary rival is Hugo (born Taiga Nikaidō), the star player of the elite St. Arrows academy, who shares Danpei's fierce ambition to become the world's top dodgeball player.

Later media extends Danpei's legacy through his daughter, Danko Ichigeki, protagonist of the 2022 spinoff *Honō no Tōkyūjo: Dodge Danko*, focusing on her dodgeball journey.
